Dead Internet Confirmed: It’s agents, trolls and clankers all the way down

by | Dec 14, 2025 | Newsletter | 22 comments

Remember when I wrote about the Dead Internet Theory? You know, the idea that most of what we see, read and hear on the internet is bot-generated?

Well, guess what? That theory has been confirmed! Everyone you talk to online is a bot, spy, troll or psyops warrior!

And, as you’re about to see, it gets even worse before it gets (hopefully) better.

Intrigued? Want to know what this means for the future of the internet? Or, much more importantly, what it means for the future of human community? Then read on!

    • I guess that’s why the only solution is offline. I’m also at the point where everything online seems like an op/stage-magic. And even if something is real it will be responded to with ops/stage magic to make it seem like an op/stage-magic. And I still can’t tell you how David Copperfield made the statue of liberty disappear so how am I supposed to claim to spot the daily stage magic now?

  1. >>You can witness people of a bygone internet era having in-depth discussions, sometimes on important political or social matters upon which the posters fundamentally disagree.… they actually listened to their interlocutors and (gasp!) engaged them in good faith.>>

  2. Year end wrap-up ; From the Desk of the General Bottle Washer.

I was delighted to see what you said about the Comment section of the corbettreport.com.

[ …discussion in more elite circles (like the comment section of corbettreport.com, to take one completely random example). ]

Elite circles…huh. Yeah now that I can step back I can see that.

I noticed it’s dwindling numbers of comments from the past few years. You don’t comment much outside of say” the link has been restored.” This is of noticable concern.
I remember. You would get worked up over the misunderstandings and confused meanings readers projected but weren’t quite taken correctly. Would that be considered autodidactic editor behavior or just being a torch bearer of Marathon integrity, clarity and perfection? Consistency, you keep pounding that out still. Goes to show your awareness of the Elite circles as competitors as well as contributors. Like James Bond , nobody has done it better. I must stop saying you had no care for the comment section but you have now straightened me out, cleverly worried me at times but fairly worn me down. I must admit “you love me. ” And those others who are real elites, you love them too.
However is that love tried to the perfect model of modern capitalism of news? Where , in the past, people would have read a newspaper , then bought a stamp and mailed a letter to the editor with their 2 cent opinion on whatever sparked a proper response. Then they would dig in their pocket and buy the next couple a papers looking for their letter-to-the-editor in print. You’d a thought they were a Salenger or Hemingway.
Considering inflation, you can vent here for less than a First Class stamp from 1980 . I did the math.
Well,…James and James…you give away the news and opinions but we must pay to play sage and elocutionist. I support that but The numbers are down . In the new year what have you thought of to stir the pot? To boost the comments ?.
The store , needs to be visited more. I support that too, however I never ordered a thing so far. I’d order a CD of JC busking on the corner of Herohito and Yamaoko in downtown Osaka. I’d be a treasure.
From the heartland to all you subscribers …and visitors to the White House lawn next week…
Merry ✝️Christmas and a Lucky 🎉 New Year everyone.

  3. Companies like twitter and google could easily filter most of the machine-generated garbage – spam, to give it is proper name – if they so desired. The media have taken to calling it “slop” instead of “spam” because the public *know* that spam filters work very well and expect spam to be dealt with. Don’t fall for this ruse, Corbett.

  4. Remember Orwell’s rule: “i. Never use a metaphor, simile or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.”

  5. … all about problem, reaction, solution… the push is for a biometric ID to get on the internet… as if that will eliminate bad actors…

  6. Great article – thank you, James! I have been wondering increasingly about the legitimacy of various ‘news’ items, such as (for example) the recent case of the (supposed) arrest of Elizabeth Kinney in the UK, in the ‘bathtub’ police invasion incident. At first glance this event seems to confirm the accelerating powers of the Big Brother state. And yet….how did a random text get (1) analyzed, categorized, flagged and (2) the offending post beamed to the appropriately located police location and (3) the offending post get read by a human or machine that alerted a human and (4) a decision was made to send in the police – 11 of them, who just happen to be hanging around! and (5) the squad of 11 travel, assemble, and invade Elizabeth Kinney’s house, where the front door just happens to be left open for her Dad. AND all this happens in the time it takes for her to send a text AND still be in the tub when the cops show.

None of the news items I’ve read about this article comment on the apparatus at work here. The spin is all along the lines of free speech violation. Which itself is STRANGE.

    Thoughts?

I dont know but its possible that a lot of the “they will get you” hype is to make people self censor…. kinda like TV detector Vans, which probably dont even exist but served to put the fear into the plebs hearts.

IIRC they just changed the law in the UK so you can get a sub 3 year sentece at the magistrates which will be useful what with all those people they claim to be locking up for speach crimes

  7. Excellent article James.

I appreciate your bringing this topic to the table now as I have been noticing an exponential influx in chatbot pollution on my blog.

As I noted to Gabriel (of Libre Solutions Network) on his excellent post on Chatbot psychosis ( https://libresolutionsnetwork.substack.com/p/chatbot-psychosis ), I have also noticed a trend where A.I. promoters show up in the comments section under a post and attempt to lure people into being more open to interacting with and leaning on these advanced chatbots for writing with ego flattery.

They feed the chatbot my writing then have it provide a very generous string of compliments and ego inflating descriptions of me and my work.

I can see how this type of digital intellectual/ego seduction could work on many people but for me I have zero interest in working with chatbots or “emergent” “A.I.” As there is so much biological and spiritual intelligence already present on this earth that I would rather connect with and learn from.

This brings me to one part of his post I wanted to expand on a bit. The part about the epidemic of loneliness. I think it is worth pointing out that meaningful connection, 2 way communication, companionship and feeling fulfilment in having cultivated amicable relationships in the real world also includes a person’s connection to the more than human world (or lack there of).

For most of the history of the story of our human family people spent large portions of their lives outside, in natural settings filled with diverse life forms (like forests). Our human hearts and minds evolved (and/or were created to) receive the stimulus of connecting with our more than human kin that we share this world with just as much as humans.

    (continued…)

    • (..continued from above)

The emotional, psychological, physiological and spiritual well being of human beings requires those connections as well as genuine human connection.

This is something I explore in both a historical, psychological and spiritual sense in my article on animism below:

      https://gavinmounsey.substack.com/p/applied-animism-rooting-culture-earth

So there are these chatbot armies, unleashed by those that socially engineer artificial dopamine craving social media addicts, essentially enticing people to join the AI chatbot cult. I do not say this lightly, as I have witnessed some pretty solid people get intellectually seduced by this scheme.

These are times when humans are being lured into a mental prison (digital hamster wheel) filled with leaky dead internet toxic waste, where they will languish in echo chambers of regurgitated AI slop drivel, as their minds shrivel, until they finally succumb to just putting on the slave VR goggles and plugging into the matrix. No joke, these are serious times indeed.

Only solid “red pill” path I see out of the matrix for those still capable of summoning the courage to do something outside their comfort zone is to take decisive action to let the heart beat of Nature break the spell of the robotic entrancing hum of the media matrix, learn to identify more bird song than corporate jingles, learn to identify more plants than corporate logos, learn your neighbors names more than social media friends and for God’s sake take the time to learn about your own pre-colonial indigenous ancestors (regardless of geography, genetics or nationality we all have them).

Just go outside basically (as James suggests) use your God given gifts to connect with your community in the real world (including the more than human community you are a part of).

      • Beautifully said. I appreciate you sharing your perspective.

        • @Unmani

Thanks for taking the time to read my ranting and raving comment(s) and replying.

          Are you on Substack?

  8. On a related note, when I posted something similar to the comment above, someone asked me “how do we know that you are not a bot?”

I had to really think about it as there are more and more ways to put up fake content that impersonates humans.

I suppose all my old video uploads show I was at least a real person posting at one point, but who is to say that I have not been replaced by a deepfake video clone and a AI chatbot clone of my writing style?

One thing I was able to offer (as a clearly observable form of evidence in defense of my humanity) is that Chat bots rarely reference old books that are not available in digital format (rather they pilfer the internet to extract from online posts).

I often reference and quote old books in my work. So I told them that is one way that you can tell I am not a chatbot. That and the fact that I have called out how chatbot generated books are garbage and that ai server farms are destroying forests, rivers and salmon habitat.

The more these AI platforms gobble up data and regurgitate it in new scrambled forms the more of their own regurgitated nonsense they are consuming and puking up again.

If these chatbots and other fancy named AI thingies are eating parts of the already dead internet to continue puking up more garbage for people dumb enough to depend on this tech what we are really talking about is the Zombie Internet (an internet that died, was colonized by chatbots that eat the left over corpse of the internet and keep regurgitating it and eating it again).

As I noted here: https://substack.com/@gavinmounsey/note/c-187851553 we have a situation where these Chatbots (that are eating their own chatbot vomit) are being used to generate text that people print in thousands of Amazon POD books on gardening, seed saving, food forest design, foraging, building etc so the physical market of books is also being flooded with this toxic waste that is leaking from the dead internet.

The corporate book stores to not care about quality, these are corporations looking at spread sheets, if the cover looks pretty and the cheap Amazon POD printing cost allows them room for a big mark up, they’ll load the shelves up. So now you get people in today’s gold fish attention span, conditioned for superficiality, literally judging a book by its cover , buying these garbage chatbot books and giving them to people as gifts. So we have kids being exposed to mind warping and intelligence diluting chatbot drivel in physical printed book format without knowing it. The dead internet is “leaking” as James puts it, leaking right onto book pages and into young minds.. it’s a slippery slope.

So we are really talking about is the Zombie Internet infecting the physical world with zombie internet generated slop books, infecting peoples minds and changing their thinking to be more machine/zombie like.

Who would have guessed that the zombie apocalypse could start spreading from linguistic pathogens spread through amazon.

  9. RSS forever. Slice and dice the empire’s carrots with this powerful peasant sword.

  10. I will meet real people tomorrow night.
But they will be engrossed in their phones…

I was reading Reportage today; Now when my wife accuses me of being the downer, I don’t argue.

  11. I have a few thoughts to share about AI.

First I would like to compliment how well the video on Corbett report follows what is being said. For example when James is talking about someone we see a real picture of that person instead of some carton figure generated by AI.
Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com, who is a software developer among other things, uses AI for a lot of his podcasts and the video will often show things that actually contradict what he is saying, yet he seems to swear by AI. He now has AI writing books with very little human input. Thus, the person taking credit for writing the book may not have even read his own book.

My second thought has to do with Data Centers that store all this information that can be used against us at any time, while they use up massive amounts of human resources like Water, Farmland and Electricity. My thoughts are that they are trying to kill us off while collecting data from us to train AI to replace us.
Anyway, I just watched a good 21min Documentary on Data Centers (see link below)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-8TDOFqkQA

    • Funnily enough, I’ve just watched a YT video complaining about how AI purposefully screws its users’ brains up (mainly through our automation bias and anthropomorphism).

Among all the comments arguing “Oh come on, it can’t be that bad!”, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of them weren’t posted by humans…

    • wow. Thanks for this link on data centers, I just watched it. Horrifying. Also horrifying is that each person interviewed says that they are necessary for our move forward in our world – ‘just not in my back yard’.

  12. Great article. My concern is that the bot activity will be weaponised in a problem-reaction-solution way to bring in Digital ID as the “solution”. I suspect that’s where it’s heading.
