SHOW NOTES:
The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the Government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson β and I am not wholly excepting the Administration of W[oodrow] W[ilson]. The country is going through a repetition of Jackson’s fight with the Bank of the United States β only on a far bigger and broader basis.β
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Letter to Col. Edward Mandell House, Nov. 21, 1933.
“All the obstacles and difficulties, which attended every great, public and popular measure, arose not from those who were out of place: they were formed, improved and supported by that invisible influence I have mentioned, and by the industry of those very dependants; first by secret treachery; then by official influence; afterwards in public councils. A long train of such practices has at length unwillingly convinced me, that there is something within the Court greater than the King himself.”
William Pitt, Prime Minister of Great Britain, speech in the House of Lords on 2 March 1770 (popularized by William Godwin as “power behind the throne”)
“By the ‘Establishment’ I do not mean only the centres of official powerβthough they are certainly part of itβbut rather the whole matrix of official and social relations within which power is exercised.”
Henry Fairlie, “Political Commentary.” The Spectator, Sep. 23, 1955.
βIn the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.β

And then, of course, there’s everyone’s least favourite conspirator, Zbig:
“I donβt believe in this notion of some sort of secret societies controlling people, but of course in any political system there are sort of over-the-table and under-the-table arrangements.”

Hello Mr. Corbett. I am a new member but a long time admirer of your work. I recently read “Reportage” in its entirety and found it extremely illuminating and well-written, being just as entertaining as it is informative.
Anyway, I just finished this most recent episode exploring the origins and meaning if the deep state concept. Great analysis! I also recently read a book called “American Exception: Empire and the Deep State” by political scientist Aaron Good. I found it to be a very useful exploration of the deep state phenomenon as it manifests in the U.S. I was wondering if you were familiar with this work by Dr. Good and, if so, what do you make of his analysis. It seems to be very much in line with your own thinking on the subject in multiple respects and I was curious as to your take on it (i.e. areas of agreement or disagreement). I think a conversation between yourself and Dr. Good would be extremely interesting and fruitful. (Incidentally, Good cites both Lance de Haven Smith and Peter Dale Scott as mentors.) Just wondering if you had any thoughts on this work. I consider it to be a good companion volume to “Reportage”, even if there is not total agreement between yourself and Dr. Good on absolutely every issue.
Anyway, congrats again on the new book and thanks for all your valuable research over the years.
James – Good information as always, and we have some information about the deep state, conspiracies, not theories now, but what are possible solutions?
Do we hide in the woods? Check out of society and work on the concept of Atlas Shrugged, the UN (that is certainly not an option)
I live in the US and we have a Constitution designed to limit government, while the States have their sovereign power, which they fork over those responsibilities to the FED for “free money”
I suggest we have a good system, but it was corrupted by the bureaucrats, deep staters who are on a power-hungry grab scheme.
Most are complacent now and uneducated to the real threats. We have a similar problem in Europe being taken over by the UN EU crates,,mixed in the Fabians as we watch the UK burn on purpose.
So the goal is wake up the people point to the real demons and don’t let them steal our freedoms or we all end up in the gulag
What say you??
Thanks for addressing my poorly formatted statement and question, James. Going
forward Iβll try and be more precise.
I by no means meant to imply that you believe in a benevolent faction within
government. I was just attempting to highlight the fact that the Deep State is the State.
I assume that the State had a purpose in starting to embrace the term βDSβ publicly, a
dozen or so years ago.
Itβs more than likely that it wasnβt just for damage control, but at some point they
planned to use it to their advantage, and as you clearly pointed out, itβs mission accomplished, a la the mango musolini presidency.
Maybe Iβm just jaded, but because they want me to use the term DS I try not to. Itβs implied whenever I use the words state, establishment, or government.
I rather liked prof Dale Scottβs weather metaphor for describing the DS, itβs very fitting and new to me. I see the DS as most definitely organized as one approaches the head of the snake, but the rank and file dupes not only need no membership card, but they might not even be aware theyβre part of the snake. As long as pride, avarice, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, sloth, and psychopathy exist, thereβll always be plenty of willing participants to fill in the storm.
Just to clarify, I’m not a writer and even if I were, ideas and concepts are difficult to get across on paper. Of course, I know what I’m thinking, but the reader can only go by the words that I wrote.
Essentially, what I meant to say was that the DS wasn’t born of the State, but the other way around. The State is a fabrication of the DS, to keep people in check and to maintain the illusion that a just and fair society is possible, provided the peasants give enough of their blood, sweat, and tears to that “better set of men.”
It’s like the Magna Carta, which supposedly superseded the divine right of kings, sure it all looks good on paper, but once a person got in front of the King’s Court, how much did it really change the outcome pre magna carta?
Here in chinada we found that out recently in the trucker convoy. Both the charter of rights and freedoms, and the bill of rights were used as shitpaper by the crown, they completely circumvented both acts and just did whatever furthered the establishment’s objectives.
So once again, the State was completely useless in it stated purpose of defending the people’s rights. Of course, the establishment bootlickers were ever so pleased that the government used an iron fist in dealing with peaceful freedom advocates.
To this day, almost 4 years later, Tony Olenick remains in jail on completely fictitious charges, while murderers, rapists and thieves get bail or reduced sentences. The State destroyed this man’s life and business because he dared to speak out and take part in peaceful demonstrations against the scamdemic.
To Mr. Corbett, et al,
I was puzzled when I saw Gilbert’s original post with the objections and questions. I engaged him in a slightly confrontational conversation. What I gleaned, as the best reason he gave for saying what he did, is that people, in reifying the Deep State, were overwhelmed by their ruthlessness and power, thereby giving the dark forces more power, as they simply threw their hands up in resignation. I found that to be a valid, if limited, observation. This episode was well documented and logical, as usual, but you didn’t address that angle, which is relevant in my opinion. Also related, which you tangentially touched on, but did not address head on, was the concept and power of reification. That may make for a good topic for another episode.
Another thing, pretty divergent, that I learned from Gilbert, is that in the rural areas of Canada that he is familiar with, they tend to overwhelmingly idolize Trump.
There is no doubt that many rednecks and hillbillies love orange julius, I’d bet over 70%. They’ve bought into the “trump is going to drain the swamp” psyop hook, line, and sinker.
I’m not so certain that folks have thrown up their hands in resignation en masse, but I’m sure some have. The problem I see is that the establishment has turned conservatives into liberals. They are now embracing and clamoring for the ideologies historically reserved for the extreme left. The general population’s blind belief in government is otherworldly.
I think Statism and partisan politics are still the greatest hurdles to creating a free and just society.
They say that leaving a cult is one of the most diffi-cult thing to do! And as a former statists I concur, overwriting a lifetime of establishment propaganda is no easy task.
I believe my countrymen’s achilles heel is their misplaced belief in the sanctity of government.
I concur with all of that. However, I see the root of our problems with society stemming from a deeper source than the establishment narratives and agendas. As long as we, as a whole, embrace lying and deception, everything else will not improve. This huge spiritual or evolutionary hurdle will take some sober introspection to heal. Society-wide. it will take a long, long time to overcome. But, I am not overcome by pessimism. However, I do rely on a widened perspective to maintain my sanity and cheerfulness. I am allowing myself to become more philosophical, and less of an activist, at my age.
Gilbert
“…There is no doubt that many rednecks and hillbillies love orange julius, Iβd bet over 70%. Theyβve bought into the βtrump is going to drain the swampβ psyop hook, line, and sinker….”
Not many people I know think he will do that- but at the end of the day he is still better for our interests then the other one was- or at least he pretends to be.
Dont get me wrong- he is certainly not my best bud but since someone is going to sit in the seat its better for a lot of those folks (many of them hillbillie sand rednecks) then people who dont even pretend they want anything except us dead and gone….. Dont get me wrong, I get how the city scum and hipster trash prefer Harris because she appears to hate them less.
At the end of the day none of them is our friend, but we may as well hope for a slightly less hostile enemy
Gilbert
A better lens then deep state might be βfactionsβ or βcastlesβ or βpower blocsβ
βThe Populist Delusionβ by Neema Parvini is a pretty good book on Elite theory- basically the natural behavior of people is to look out for themselves and expand their own power.
Mr Parvini has a YT channel, βAcademic Agentβ where he spends a lot of time talking about politics thru the lens of Pro Wrestling.
Thanks Duck, I’ll check out his channel.
This is exactly what James took great pains to explain it isn’t.
That all depends on how each individual viewer interpreted what he said.
In the penultimate episode of the corbett report he differentiated between the state and the DS, but did not mention that a benevolent state, or “BS” for short, does not exist. That’s the point I was making!
I fully realize that James knows the DS controls the government, but many of his newer viewers might not, they probably still believe in the BS.
Around 150 million people voted in the 2024 election, how many of those individuals knew they were voting for the DS? Who did you vote for?
I hope this clears things up for you.
This video will give you a good sense of how the Deep State was up to its eyeballs behind the scenes of 9/11. Who the players were etc.

It’s funny how people who want to keep billionaires from running their government get the majority of their information from billionaire media.
Since the mid 1800s, Americans have experienced an ongoing influence to embrace the tenants of the political state, just as humanity surrendered their spiritual autonomy for the religious church state. To see the state as βThe march of God through history,” that the state is also God, and it is a citizenβs duty to serve God by serving the state.

Thank you James for this very good ‘unfolding’ of this term that has indeed been manipulated recently. I had the immense pleasure of meeting Peter Dale Scott some years ago as I attended the JFK Assassination Conferences in Dallas. Just shaking his hand and speaking with him for a few minuets has been the highlight of all the conferences. He is a man before his time in the way that he saw behind the scenes of geopolitical influence and articulated it so very well. I so appreciate your work and your ability to define the geopolitical landscape, as illustrated in your great book which I have a signed copy! Keep up the good work!
I try to make an archive of Deep State related information:
https://saidit.net/s/DeepState/
I noticed that different people have different ideas about the deep state.
Kevin Shipp explains and exposed the Deep State (and Shadow Government)
Kevin Shipp is explaining the inner workings of the deep state by separating it into
different categories.
He states that he was involved in the CIA Phoenix operation and tried to expose it.
Part1 3hours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQouKi7xDpM
Part2 1h https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO-mcduYCEA
Part3 1h https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMtsbi2C77s
Kevin Shipp shares his insights into the hidden workings of the agencies and the government.
He splits the criminal government into (1) Shadow government and (2) Deep state.
The Shadow Government are the companies and military complex that run the government behind the scenes.
During the 2nd world war the military companies could hide projects behind top secret.
The Deep State are the agencies, like the CIA and NSA that do criminal activities.
They got involved in working with international criminals and interfering in foreign governments.
They finance themselves via the “Federal” Reserve infinite printing and the Petro-dollar.
This system profits from wars and stealing a country’s natural resources.
These people can do crimes without any legal consequences.
Kevin Shipp lists some of such crimes during his talk and exposes the people that are clearly part of the criminal group.
These people are untouchables.
It is easy to point out the people who openly break the laws.
I think this analysis makes sense and can be expanded upon.
Kevin is has a conservative bias, is too positive about Trump (2016) and became popular in pro-trump circles due to this bias.
Your “Saidit” archive is great. Thanks.
So much on the web that I just don’t come across.
ββ¦.The Deep State are the agencies, like the CIA and NSA that do criminal activitiesβ¦.β
Sure SOME of the deep state is that, but mostly itβs just small potatoes managers who stay in their jobs for decadesβ¦. You have a lot more ti fear from the zoning people or the EPA then you do the CIA.
ββ¦..They got involved in working with international criminals and interfering in foreign governmentsβ¦..β
Yes, but you donβt generally get bothered by that part of the deep state- the guy deciding how to tax your property or making rules about zoning or welfare or business licenses is much more dangerous to most people day to day
Shipp draws broad brush strokes about Shadow Govt./Deep State, and yes it’s informative.
But he comes up short in this video and others on their involvement in 9/11 for example.
He’s a good talker, but very short on details. π₯
Tony Benn (British MP, RiP) had an interesting thought wrt The Establishment:
“I don’t think people realise how the establishment became established. It simply stole the land and property off the poor, surrounded themselves with weak minded sycophants for protection, gave themselves titles and have been wielding power ever since.”
Josh
lol, thatβs true but the quesoβs where the poor got it from then comes up- Normans stole it off the saxons, who stole it off the celts, whi probably stole it off the Neolithic folks before them. As the film linked says βthey fought for itβ , lol

Thank you James for another top-drawer thought-provoking analysis. Two brief thoughts:
β¦ The inclusion of the word “state” in the term “Deep State” is a major part of the problem in understanding the root cause of “Deep events” in my view. Powerful forces, i.e. powerful people, drive the deep events you have described. It is unlikely that any of these people are constrained by the boundaries of “a state” to any important degree because they have little or no allegiance to a particular state; they operate across national and cultural boundaries.
β¦ Convid was surely one of the most profound, if not THE most profound, examples of “deep events” in human history, certainly in its scale in terms of its impact on almost the entire World’s population. The coordination of “restrictions” via executive / emergency powers across most nations was unprecedented. Even more remarkable in my view, was the widespread cancelling of restrictions / vaccine mandates etc in a matter of a week or two before the Ukraine “deep event” kicked off. It would be a conspiracy theory of course to suggest that this was more than a coincidence.
Might be taking it too literal. It seems to me the use of the word “state” is not referencing any geographical place but rather a condition like “state of mind” or “organized state,” or like the “church or politcal state” as I mentioned above.
IMO the introduction that phrase was to lessen the reality of calling it the New World Order or Skull&Bones, or world controllers, etc.
Analog man
ββ¦.Powerful forces, i.e. powerful people, drive the deep events you have described.β¦.β
A lot of the Deep State types probably donβt have that much real power themselves- the Gov paper pusher who is constantly trying to expand their departments reach is not exactly a Rothschild. When all those paper pushers have the same ideology or (more important) the same interests then like a slime mold they can display some pretty impressive collective behavior and even give those type of big single players a bloody nose
If you like the Deep State, you’ll love this!
If you like conspiracy theories you will love this one, too.

Suzanne Humphries, M.D
First of all, I’m happy to report that Reportage is now on the shelf at the Eugene Public Library!
As far as the discussion about the function of the Deep State goes, I think that, as an analogy, it operates like the underlying weather system that expresses its existence through easily perceptible phenomena like rain or snow (political and financial activities). Observable weather phenomena are explained and contextualized by Deep State “weathermen” through propaganda narratives. These Deep State systems manifest as colliding fronts, much as weather systems do, as various political and economic forces impinge on and challenge one another for supremacy. Beyond this activity, however, is another set of forces called climate. These are less transitory, more cyclic, and not subject to human-level intervention. They manifest as interactions between enduring features like land, water, and icebergs. Climate activity operates in large cycles beyond human understanding or control, just as the financial industrial complex, military industrial complex, technological industrial complex – their counterparts in the human sphere – do. They have a life of their own, commandeered by non-human forces, and operating through corporate agents that are controlled and even possessed. These act on the Deep State from the shadows, just as the Deep State acts on transitory activity from the shadows. This larger system is an unfolding and deeply anti-human control plan that has been articulating its own nature and function for hundreds, if not thousands, of years through secret societies and “mystery schools”. It is to the “Deep State” as the Deep State is to the daily activities in politics and the economy. The Deep State isn’t the control system, it’s the middleman between the control system and us.
Eugene is in Oregon. Sorry for not specifying that!
James,
As always, thanks for your tireless, amazing, crucial work. Thank you.
I have a new question for you. In this video you say that there is no one governing body at the top of the pyramid.
What is your opinion about John Coleman’s thesis that at the top the system is governed by ‘The Committee of 300’, which is along the lines of David Icke’s thesis, that as well says there is one governing body at the top.
It makes sense to me that if the world is seen and treated as one big human slavery farm, there is simply a ‘board’ at the top of the ‘company’ running it, as it happens in all of the other elite ruled companies. Coleman’s and Icke’s seem to confirm that.
Thank you, greetings,
Martyn
Another important voice that says that ‘the world is run by committee, by representatives of the families at the top of the system that control global capital’ is Catherine Austin Fitts, which is more circumstantial evidence towards pointing towards a governing body at the top of the pyramid.
I’m waiting for Derrick Broze’s take on this subject, in part 2 of the final part of The Pyramid of Power, but I feel it is most likely that the world is indeed run by committee.
Martyn
If a committee existed it would be because it had the power to enforce its dictates upon its minionsβ¦..but itβs minions must have a certain level of power themselves (or they would be useless to the committee) and you canβt totally dominate people with their own powerβ¦.it would have to be more like a feudalism type deal where the people at the top have to contend with the desires of the Power blocs belowβ¦.who would naturally push to keep their own interests in good order.
Itβs kinda like when John Titus (βbest evidence β) was talking about the CBDC which would shut some banks out of the economy- those banks have other ideas that would keep them healthy.
To simplify stuff James and I know you love a ‘deep dive’ which we love you for. I believe that this deep state stuff is really the Satanists at their game which is to destroy just about everything for avarice, greed and of course ultimate control. It is a Nazi/Communist solution where ‘you will own nothing and be happy and it has been around for a long time; the gullible embrace it without realising.
Everyone, it’s really worth listening to Mark Passio’s lectures on the matter which can be found on Rumble.
“Outskirts of the city
You and I
We need someone new
Something new, better bring your gun
Something else to get us through, better bring your gun
Tropic corridor, tropic treasure
We’re going to ride and have some fun
When all else fails
We can whip the horse’s eyes
And make them sleep
And cry”
Not sure what Jim Morrison meant by these lyrics but it could be a warning to be prepared to fight
Curious if anyone here has read reallygracefuls book ‘The Deep State Encyclopedia’?

I have not but have thought about ordering it. I am definitely going to get that Peter Dale Scott book though. Thanks for the in depth analysis Mr Corbett. Top tier as always!
The farther away from a 50-50 chance of controlling a decision or monopolizing an outcome by the deep state, the better for us . What !?
For the deep state actors , a 50-50 outcome creates competition . The field is split and all sorts of fallout occur. This is between juggernauts and we usually are the ones that suffer. Far better a 85-15 split occur with one side having controlling interests taking the lead , than having to defend a challenge of an opponent of equal strength . World war 3 will be called for in the next 50-50 split.
We may all ready be in a 50-50 situation; we will be last to know even with James’ training… Thucydides trap and all points this out. Competition is a sin and when one side reaches the 50% strength level of the opposition all hell breaks loose. Effecting all levels. Is that a correct assumption and definition of the deep state ? That it’s not one but dozens? Of course we normal sheeple individuals can try to find a valley to lay low in while the storm passes overhead. We are separate from the state as we are separate from the deep state however we can survive them both , weather we form volentaryist communities or choose higher imbalanced odds of ruling parties, there will be an overarching power laying down rules to operate by.
Blow it up or artfully dodge ! You are not in the club and never will be given a choice of deep state sides. The teams change to often to be consistent. Sorry, waking up is half way to being there. Halfway to 85% or more likely the high price of the peaceful 15%.
Going back to this heady lecture on the deep state I was amazed by what I missed the first time through.
First is how well James presents. Hats off to all who formed this man’s character. Global Research Asia Financial,Trinity Dublin right down to Mom and Dad.
Secondly , What appears as spontaneous sharing is really a well crafted lecture. Since he kept his shoes on and didn’t beat the lectern , he makes a peaceful convincing argument. Giving the audience new definitions of terms on the same page with the same meanings and an anadotal companion. Not an easy task . Just look at the comment genuflects and individuals mirroring attempts . Mine in particular. C-.
However, Taylor Caldwell wrote a fiction book, ” Of Captains and Kings ” in1964 repudiating the Deep State for murdering Kennedy . She described them much like James does here. Vaguely. Like snow flakes, all different, with different agendas, juggernauts of financing, individual tactics and methods. Snowballing down hill until they get the avalanche started in the direction they wanted. If you could catch one and shine the light of day on one it would melt like a snowflake βοΈ and drip away , unrecognizable. As Caldwell describes it , WW1 was revealed to Joe Kennedy from the back seat of a cab , on the streets of New York in front of their private club. Kennedy didn’t know the man who proclaimed his groups intentions, nor was he told when or how but was alerted to what was set in motion. It’s an insiders club. One that would be happy to have 500 million people left surviving the conflict. She explained these people as the ultimate paranoid psychopaths. If you had been talked to it was a courtesy to capitalize on the talk or be destroyed in opposition. This means you and all members of family and friends. Ultima. Nothing less. I can see why when some of these creations put into motion may take 60 years to form.
Then on we go to science fiction, the tales of the future. If I were a betting man, I’d say James must read science fiction. Given enough time , you can come across narratives that must have been seen , stored for further use or discarded. In July of 2001 did you know what a meme was? Well , Carolynn Ives Gilman with her futuristic story ” The Real Thing”apparently did. She wrote a clever story of a world where information was only a commodity for profit. Memes were hatched like chicks, raised to be used in any number of ways to form and navigate a planned future. The planners are in a small club and you are not in it . History or future by meme . Does that ring any bells?.
So, they-them-those are a butterfly in Singapore, a snowflake in Japan or a hurricane in the Caribbean. Blowing our way but not by us but for us . Bring it on. Like a good banker and friend told me ” I’m against anything I’m not in on.” Go figure.
