Thank you, Larken and Amanda, and thank you everyone for coming to this Approaching Humanity celebration today.
In case you don’t know me, I’m James Corbett of corbettreport.com and Amanda and Larken were kind enough to invite me here to join you today to discuss an important topic: POSIWID.
What? Never heard of POSIWID before? Then you haven’t been following The Corbett Report!

But come with me and I’ll give you the long story short:
This is Stafford Beer.
Actually, to be more accurate, that’s Stafford Beer in full-on professional business manager mode.
This is what Stafford Beer looked like most of the time.
You could say he was a pretty … unconventional guy.
The bastion of truthiness (Wikipedia) describes him as a “British theorist, consultant and professor at Manchester Business School,” but that really only begins to scratch the surface of his esoteric explorations in the field of “management cybernetics.”
In fact, his involvement with Project Cybersyn in Allende’s Chile, complete with a Star Trek-inspired retro-futuristic command room for technocrats to oversee the Chilean economy in real time is probably worth an exploration in and of itself.
…But today we’re going to discuss something different: POSIWID.
POSIWID comes from Stafford Beer’s 1979 book, The Heart of Enterprise.
It stands for “the Purpose Of a System Is What It Does.”
You see, as a researcher in cybernetics management, Beer was fundamentally interested in systems and how they work…or how they fail to work.
He gives the example of a time he was living in London and bought a luxury car…that promptly proceeded to fall apart piece by piece as soon as he drove it off the lot. First a door handle came off, then a windshield wiper, next the odometer gauge.
Despite all the servicing stations for this car having a mutual agreement to supply each other with spare parts, he was unable to get the last missing part before the next one broke off. And as a good systems engineer, Beer decided to take his complaint to the source:
I wrote to the managing director of the manufacturing company to point out that the System for spare-part provisioning did not work. He disagreed. He said that there was nothing the matter with the system. […] ‘I am of the opinion that our system is efficient and that it only fails to maintain availability, due to manufacturing conditions or outside deficiencies.’ […]
What is the nature, and what is the purpose, of a spare parts provisioning System—and what are its boundaries? And if we may know the purpose of a System by WHAT IT DOES, then what did this System actually do? From my point of view it was a System for not supplying spare parts. From the managing director’s point of view, it must have had a different purpose: minimizing the capital tied up in spare parts, perhaps. In any case, the nature of the System was certainly a subjective affair.
Beer’s observation is deceptively simple.
Determining the nature of a system is a subjective affair. The manager of the manufacturing company might have one explanation of a system’s purpose, but that isn’t necessarily reflective of any observable reality.
If we COMPLETELY IGNORE what the system’s designer or its owner or its defender or its proponent has to say and look at what the system ACTUALLY DOES, we can see the objective reality of that system.
OK, alright, you get the idea, but who cares about car parts suppliers? Let’s look at some more consequential systems.
Like the War on Terror. You know, the wars of aggression waged primarily in the Middle East in the name of 9/11.
What was the purpose of the War on Terror?
George W. Bush tried to define it by its supposed end goal:
BUSH: Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there.
It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated.

…But let’s not take his word for it. Instead: POSIWID. The Purpose of a System is What it Does.
So, what did the war on terror actaully do?
It killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. It cost the US over $8 trillion. And it actually led to the rise of more violent and extreme terror groups.
So, the purpose of the war on terror was to kill hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, transfer $8 trillion from US taxpayers to the military-industrial complex and increase violent terrorism.
The Purpose of a System is What it Does.
Or, let’s look at the War on Drugs.
Everyone remembers when Nixon declared the War on Drugs in 1971.
NIXON: America’s public enemy number one in the United States is drug abuse. In order to fight and defeat this enemy, it is necessary to wage a new all-out offensive.

So, the purpose of the War on Drugs was to fight and defeat the enemy of drug abuse?
But what has the War on Drugs actually done?
It has incarcerated nearly one million people per year for drug offenses. It has cost an estimated one trillion dollars. And it has resulted in an increase in drug abuse.
Thus, the purpose of the system called “The War on Drugs” is to incarcerate a million people a year, divert a trillion dollars into the prison-industrial complex and increase drug abuse.

OK. One more example.
How about the War on Poverty?
JOHNSON: …and this Administration today here and now declares unconditional war on poverty in America. [Applause]

Our aim is not only to relieve the symptom of poverty but to cure it and, above all, to prevent it. [Applause]

So the stated purpose of the war on poverty was to cure and prevent poverty.
But what has it actually done?
It has created a web of nearly 100 interrelated welfare programs, spread across 14 government departments and agencies, and nine budget functions that spend over a trillion dollars a year on various federal welfare programs.
The result of these programs is that there is a greater percentage of the American population living in poverty than there was when the war was launched.
So, the purpose of the war on poverty is to create a vast bureaucratic infrastructure, transfer a trillion dollars a year from taxpayers to bureaucrats, middlemen and welfare recipients and to keep a greater and greater percentage of the population dependent on those handouts.
The Purpose of a System is What it Does
Simple, right? And straightforward. It takes the guesswork and the subjectivity and the “but we had good intentions” out of the equation and it gets to the heart of the matter.
So, are you ready to try it yourself?
Alright, come with me.
So, let’s test:
What was the purpose of the American Revolution?
Did it lead to freedom, prosperity and happiness, as the founding fathers supposedly intended?
Or has it resulted in the creation of the largest, most deadly, most data-hungry, privacy-invading, technocratically empowered empire in the history of the world?
What was the purpose of MAGA?
Did it Make America Great Again?
Or has it resulted in an EVEN STUPIDER and MORE MEANINGLESS war in the Middle East on the behalf of Israel, the expansion of the technocratic surveillance state, the growth of the military-industrial-artificial-intelligence complex, increased government protection for Monsanto and Bayer in their poisoning of Americans and the world, the hard wiring of the stablecoin scam and the Polymarket scam into law, and the systematic cover-up of the Epstein network?
The Purpose of a System is What it Does.
What is the purpose of voting?
Is it to make the people’s voice heard, as the Hope and Changers believed when they voted for Obama in 2008 or the MAGA die hards believed when they voted for Trump in 2024 or the pacifists believed in 1916 when they voted for Wilson because “He Kept Us Out of War”?
Or is it to provide the populace of the state with the comforting idea that they have any control whatsoever over a system that is fundamentally made by and for oligarchs?
Finally, here’s the most important question of all, and I invite you to apply everything you’ve learned here today : What is the purpose of the state?
While you ponder that, I’m going to assert my freedom as an unbound individual and I’m going to start approaching humanity.

For some, that conversation may raise the temperature of the room.
It’s a very poor commercial but she has good jeans so she managed to pool it off.
The idea implies that those in power know what they are doing.
While they are mainly trying to get money out of the system,
the corrupt system itself will do the same on each level.

Is complete destruction of society the goal?
It would make sense from a “evil” outside nation,

I’m gonna say the un- named board of directors are in China. China is a legacy place. What better place to have an obedient majority of humanity protecting the legacy that enslaves the rest of humanity.
There is certainly people with malice within the vaccine and medicine companies.
This is also clear from the findings by David Martin.
Some at the top literally wanted to spread some virus to sell their products.
And some are looking for reducing population (growth).
I worked in product safety and EU rules about this safety.
Companies were deliberately stalling important safety in their products for profits.
1- The TVs could burst into flames during standby. Can easily kill a family. And there were simple measures to prevent that. But the regulations were blocked by big company until all the TVs were sold. And after acceptance, the safety regulation blocked the sale of TVs of other companies.
2- Most of the regulations were focused on selling patented technology.
From this I think that the negative effects comes from the system
and not from some people in power.
The corrupt system invites any company to break the rules.
And from the profit that this rule-breaking creates, the decision makers
in the system are being paid extra.
It starts with someone trying to sell snake-oil,
and a moment later the US is bombing schools in a far away country.
There’s a huge, unfathomable amount of stupidity in these bureaucratic orifices. I man offices. Anyone who has dealt with these people for any amount of time knows this like they know the back of their palm.
However, the intent here comes from the way the system has been setup from above. The planner simply bet on stupid and used it as a weapon against us, ensuring the stability of the existing system.
Let’s assume a Mafia (Epstein-Mossad-CIA) that rules a country (US).
They also control the voting system (voting-machines/news)
and they control the politicians (blackmail).
The goals are now clear:
-1 hide themselves from public view and
-2 milk the system as much as possible.
-3 At this level, the purpose of the voting is clear:
-4 Create a false idea of freedom.
-5 Create a mess, so the 2 parties fight each other.
-6 Make all politicians blackmail-able, exclude others
-7 Convince people with idiotic plans (AI) to let them milk the system
-8 Let psychopaths and psychotic people in public so they cause harm to people
But we should not give the Mafia-elite credit for the destructive results.
I think that the destructive results come from the full system corruption
and the measures to hide this corruption.
I not list the central banks working with the US-Mafia, and the
petro-dollar, and the military complex.
These are different systems with immense levels of corruptions.
But their leaders are also puppets of another corrupt system.
In a way these system-rulers are like drugs dealers.
They destroy the environment they live in.
The drugs dealers (usually) do not intend to have their clients rob people or
destroy their families or kill themselves. This would damage the market and income and the environment.
But it will be the consequence of the drugs.
To maximize short term profit, the dealers do not care about that. And willfully ignore the negative consequences.
That means that most of these elite are idiots.
Idiots, or immoral amoral fools? It comes to the same place in the long run.
Perhaps the best we can do is to have more integrity and honesty at our level. Everything is connected.

We commoners should try to excell in integrity and honesty. Traits we may find admirable for society must be abhorrent to the kind of society the Legacy power inhabit. The gap separating the two makes the Grand Canyon blush. I don’t think outside of us all being in a vacuum that everything is connected. The Hollywood version taken from John Wick saga depicting above the table and below the table is an accurate telling( metaphor). Those on the table top probably never come into contact with anything offered us. I’m sure a mob can get their attention like a forest fire gets ours. I dont see “the elite” as a single all powerful group.

I think that POSIWID is a logical fallacy.
In my long posts, I try to explain why it is wrong with it in most cases.
1- POSIWID can only be applied to systems that are setup to mask a fraud or crime.
And is that the system’s only purpose?
2- It gives me the impression that some very smart people designed the corrupt systems.
And we are the helpless victims.
3- Many systems that are now clearly destructive,
originally might have worked beneficial.
Like healthcare was first setup to help people get better,
but the system became corrupted and is now making a lot of people long-term sick.
4- I think that it is better to investigate the process that makes systems corrupt,
or the process that promotes bad systems and hides their true intentions.
And how can we break the corrupt systems?

Yes, i’m with you on that, it implies that no system can ever fail it’s intended purpose which just isn’t true. If you want the purpose of a system you have to ask the designer of said system, he’s the only one who gets to decide what his system is supposed to do. If the system consistently fails to do what it was intended for, you can say that the system’s consequences don’t match its purpose or that it failed it’s purpose (but maybe not another purpose) but you don’t get to interpret what the designer’s intent was. Now don’t get me wrong, of course there are malicious designers that create a system with a hidden purpose which doesn’t match the disclosed one, but you can’t just brush away your burden to prove that, by saying every system’s purpose is what it does. So for me POSIWID is a failed shortcut and is even dangerously reinforcing biases in skeptical people with the end result being the fact checkers pointing out that we’re all nuts and can’t reason. I therefore humbly suggest to discard anything POSIWID.

That’s cautionary advice. Does my request to pick a number or symbol prevent you from participating in my harmless query? We may discover the proof POSIWID has validity in intention. Of course it doesn’t prove anything if everyone is repelled by it. Separate and at odds with past declarations is inconsistent with intent. The system I’m using here ,with your or anyone’s involvement is voluntary . No expectations only observations. The more one thinks about it the greater the intent will be and certainly will put you and what ever your preconceptions make that failed shortcut. Full human potential is derailed by POSIWID in the hands of an expert of the Craft.
It doesn’t mean an end to all truths; it can sustain ideas of truth in the hands of an expert Warden. I would suspect Z would have gotten 85!%

There is no questions that any system can be corrupt. And that many people are tricked by the system into believing the positive intentions.
This includes any voluntary system. Especially in low trust communities.

What really makes the systems corrupt?
By stating POSIWID, we just abandon all reasoning and become victims.
Strong protected systems are also corrupt, often even more.
People simply go where the money is. So it will be hard to prevent them from corrupting any system or community. Like African villagers with TVs inside their mud huts.
Environments with good products are likely to be controlled by organized crime mixed with capitalism. (Peru / Venezuela)
How can we bring the systems into a good direction?
Many people think that communism (+weed) is the answer. Really.
And capitalism is no more than legal corruption. More money is more power.
Free market is good, but not if people sell each other shit (or bullshit). Nor when they start hoarding (to create higher prices).
Good education and good crafting often needs a lot of investing, which needs a complex system of support. Unless everyone is a hunter/gatherer, and will be enslaved by a future invasion.

The two systems we see here by the POSIWID show women and mens differences and the need for symbiotic roles .The creation of the systems we see in the show were designed by nature . The most significant is the concept of exchange of goods and services for two main reasons. Survival of today and the species’s survival in the future . I’m so glad you go on to mention money. The oldest profession is the first form of money. Money is the root of all evil . It has perverted nature and destroyed the symbiotic relationships of life.. So each groups POSIWID is different and dependent upon forming the system of mutual survival. That is the power in POSIWID. One group is thriving and one group is dying. Where did those women come from? Whatever system these gals come from didn’t prepare them for the tasks the show or life requires of them. Somebody has fed them a crock of poo. The men also. They can have sex but the species is doomed.

I first learnt about Cease & Desist was from an aboriginal elder who was interviewed on Hugo Talks in November, 2021, when the Northern Territory Government and ADF were transporting aboriginal people into quarantine camps and force jabbing them. Astoundingly, this man (a real bushy) knew exactly what was going on and emphasized the importance of reading this document.
Is the transcript above missing a few things?
1) “Or is to provide the populace of the state” (unfinished question and no question mark).
2) An “unbound individual” is apparently one who “approaches humanity”. It seems to me that “humanity” is a vast concept that could encompass everyone living today, or possibly even also everyone that has ever existed in the past. Don’t you really mean something that you could really do, based on your current resources, knowledge, and contacts?
Short but to the point. What does the State do?
In reality they claim to provide schools, hospitals.
I have tried Schools, I managed to get an Engineer examine but, in reality it was to a certain degree just an advert to the Mafia.

The thing is….who thinks that they will enjoy as much freedom without some kind of organization to stop others coming to take their stuff? Sure, you can organize your buddies into a local militia but how long will the hold out against a military with supply lines and a draft and a large population to utilize?
The purpose of the state is to enrich corporate entities and bureaucracies. And it follows that the purpose of the state is tied to the purpose of these, to fight for their own continued existence and reward whoever helps them continue to that goal.

Corbett’s 10-minute visual presentation on Applied POSIWID was so smooth in its communication of concepts to the viewer.
Nature (the natural aesthetic order of things) was the perfect backdrop to the conference topic of “Approaching Humanity.”
For a presentation like this, the mechanics and behind-the-scenes stuff is out of my field of knowledge.
I am guessing that James outlines a ‘screenplay’ type script. He probably knocks it around with Broc West.
I liked how the background shifted from scene to scene, keeping the viewer engaged. Of course, the visuals for each example made the concept real.
I couldn’t tell if a green screen was used in beginning parts. However, the morning or evening sunlight on James sure couldn’t be a green screen – not with that resultant mid-summer sheen on his face. And he had the same shirt on during the entire presentation.
I guess from the inside of a mirror, left to right reading works differently.
Certainly, a lot of work goes into producing a product like this.
But all this speculation about the making of the presentation really occurred on a rewind. On the first run, I was drawn into the story, scene by visual scene. It hit home.

You can argue about if it is a form of “stationary banditry” that grew up when one bunch of bandits decided to stay put and farm the plebs (which is probably the case IMO) or if it arose for some other reason…..so YES , you live in a farm and YES you will remain on the farm because it provides you with some safety and plenty of slop in your trough.
There is a great deal of talk about folks “leaving the farm” (or plantation, lol) …..though in my experience very few people are actually willing to live the life of a real Primativist outside the system, nor IF such folks exist outside the system will they remain for very long because even if you get your 20 buddies together you won’t be able to resist a bigger more organized group that sets its mind on taking what you have.

I think that POSIWID might be better understood as “a system exists for itself and not for any greater reason” …… thus a cell exists to be a cell and an ant exists to be an ant…..the ant and the cell take in nutrients and energy and such SO they ca exist.

The second issue is that systems are themselves made up of systems- your brain is a stack of systems built one atop the other , and your body has a plethora of systems all existing “so they can exist” without any one of them having any idea about the rest of your body. YOur liver does not know or care what your kidneys are up to…..All those systems running “happen” (if you don’t believe in a designer) to create homostatis and keep the environment inside you nice for all those unknowing and uncaring systems.
If you consider the questions Mr Corbett posed the way he posed the then you miss the fact that the police and Gov agencies doing the war or drugs are NOT ONE SYSTEM…..they are lots of systems like in your body.

Yesterday we had a high pressure dome with a blue sky no clouds in any direction. Today when I got up there were 20- 30 chemtrails from horizon to horizon. By 5 pm the milky white sludge pretty near covered the entire expanse of the sky. Sickening, as sick as a pediphile.

Have you ever seen night time spraying? I did when I lived in Tulsa in spring 2020. Overnight the city got cov’,d . Feelings over facts. To me this is a symptom of people not understanding how to use reason and evidence properly, and the vital importance of doing so with important issues. It is getting worse. Ignorant folk always did this, but now sophisticated people do it too, more than ever. It is tied to the pushing of cons by the gender and race hustlers in education and media. And Politics. It is not exclusively left wing, either. The ‘Super Patriots’ and militant true believers of all stripes have joined.
Of particular concern is how the pronouncements of media and Ai trump, and sideline, sincere human debate and discussion. We are deprived of rubbing up against varying human perspectives, and living in our own heads. The very effectiveness of human decision-making is diminishing.
