August is here, so you know what that means: no one’s interested in news and information at the moment!
As a result, I’ll be doing the usual August slow-down on the website. I’ll still be posting to the site, but much less frequently than usual. As a result, I’m sure all the revved-up, clued-in, switched-on Corbett Report members will be eager to keep themselves informed and entertained in the August Open Thread.
So, what are you interested in this month?
The slow-motion unfolding of the Trump/Israeli-made disaster in the Middle East?
The continuing circus sideshow (distraction?) of the Fauci hearings?
The latest confirmation that tampering with the human genome is indeed a bad idea (whowouldathunkit)?
Or some other news story entirely?
Or maybe you’re interested in lazing on the beach with a good book or enjoying a bit of down time.
If you do find yourself jonesing for a “Just For Fun” link, here’s another uproariously hilarious, wildly inappopriate, definitely NSFW lipdub madlib from Day Job Orchestra making fun of everyone’s least favourite globalist mouthpieces, Hillary Clinton and Stephen Colbert!
And, just as a reminder, Corbett Report members can not only log in to the site to participate in the Open Thread below, they can also sign in to get the link for this Sunday’s (August 2nd) livestream of the Film, Literature and the New World Order podcastย on Umberto Eco’s Foucaultโs Pendulum.

folks might want to make sure they have some bottled water in case we get more attacks on the water supply. Good idea to have at least a Life Straw or other filter on hand and maybe a water barrel if you can get one
Thia latest attack was ALOT less serious then it could have been- locking the systems rather then adding toxic levels of water treatment chemicals.
Ask yourself how long a big city or a town in the hotter parts of the nation will last if water is cut offโฆ..
https://abcnews.com/US/investigators-iran-connection-minnesota-water-system-hacks-us/story?id=135237777
That worries me. I’ll have to collect rainwater on my fire escape.
Eliz
Not to be the โactshualllyโ guy (since you probably know it already) but please be mindful of how much weight you put on the fire escapeโฆ.you could also just fill up a container from the tap now and store it. The thing about bucket collection is that if you put a bucket out you can only get as much rain as falls into it – you would do better with a tarp funneling it into the bucket because the bigger area would catch more.
Thank you.
Those mean baby-on-bayonets water-system-hacking Iranians…
— Trinidad, Texas water system —
Undoubtedly, Iranians hacked the water system of the small Texas town (900 population) of Trinidad which lies not far from Athens, Texas.
The water pipes spit out dark-brown muddy tap water. A teenage girl burned her skin repeatedly when she tried to shower the tap water off. When a brave women posted her concern about the tap water on social media, she was arrested by the Police Chief and put in jail. Then a protester was jailed.
Prior to the jailing of the woman, the Trinidad City Manager was fired because she expressed concerns that City monies were being kept in the personal checking accounts of officials. Several city employees were fired because they would not cover-up the muddy water issue.
No matter…City employees have been quitting regardless. Not long ago, there was no city official who could take your utility payment.

lol, yeah that was pretty bad too. OTOH one town with a corruption issue is nothing like as bad as the level of stupidity it takes to put water supply control systems onlineโฆ..one town with bad water is not near as bad as a whole region being cut off abruptly.
How would it go if such a thing happened in Dallas? Itโs kinda warm in Texas now and I wonder how many would be dead if the water was out there for a week
This was a pretty mild attack, the fact that you can go online right now and find unprotected systems on the open internet is kinda insane.
A level of stupidity so great that you can be certain it’s malice.
Any government that connects a utility to the Internet, in any way, is making a crystal clear pronouncement that it is traitorous; consciously working against the people it claims to serve.
I think that the “Iran-bogeyman Water Hacking” is part of the rumor mill in the media.
The alarmism sells views in their news feeds.
Perhaps the Dept of War or the CIA is helping to spread the rumor.
The FBI has not confirmed Iran as the culprit of the hacking, and Trump blames Minnesota incompetence.
“…Water providers in at least seven states have reported cyber intrusions since July 27, according to the FBI. Officials say some of the attacks disrupted normal operations.
The hackers are targeting internet-connected Rockwell Automation industrial control devices. Once inside the systems, they have changed IP addresses and passwords, locking operators out of equipment used to monitor and control water systems.
In some cases, the FBI says the attacks caused drops in water pressure and flooding.
In Minnesota, more than 30 community water systems were affected during a single weekend. Officials said there is no indication that drinking water was contaminated. Preliminary findings suggest Iran may be behind the attacks, though President Donald Trump has instead blamed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
The FBI and EPA say they are working with affected utilities and urging water systems to disconnect vulnerable devices from the public internet.”

โIn MITRE ATT&CK for ICS those consequences include denial or loss of view, denial or loss of control, and manipulation of view or control. A physical process may continue running even when operators can no longer see it, influence it, or trust what their screens are telling them.โ
โThose distinctions matter,โ Thomas added. โA denial of view or control can be temporary. A sustained loss may require hands-on intervention or manual operation. Manipulation can be even more dangerous because the process may be in a different state than what is being reported to the operator.”

โโฆThe alarmism sells views in their news feedsโฆ.โ
That is certainly true- but itโs not really as important WHO does a thing as HOW it affects you.
Hence the heads up about water storage which everyone should have done years ago anyway
If the Chinese or the deep state or Iranians or Israel mess up the water supply the folks without water will still be in trouble if they have not gotten squared away on waterโฆ..however we may feel about it 99% of people depend on the infrastructure working for their daily lives to continue.
When stuff stops working the people who die from heat stroke or lack of meds or water will be just as dead if itโs a false flag or a real attack. Itโs also not like everyone who hates the deep state loves us either- I doubt the Chinese or Iranians or Russians would give much of a fk if a major US city turns into a charnel house- we sure donโt give much of a fk if their cities do.

EXCERPT
…City of Atlanta ransomware attack.
The City of Atlanta was crippled by a ransomware attack in March 2018, which disrupted city utilities, courts and other operations.
For roughly a week, employees with the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management were unable to turn on their work computers or gain wireless internet access, and two weeks after the attack Atlanta completely took down its water department website โfor server maintenance and updates until further notice.โ
It has taken Atlanta months, and estimated costs of up to $5 million in recovery efforts, to address the attack….
In the Water Works 20 page report, it cites other examples of being hacked.
Doesn’t the fact that it was Minnesota that was affected seem curious to you? Make you wonder if it may have been a false flag of some sort. Minnesota, with all those Somalis/Muslims. Seems like the state Israel would choose if they were to carry out something like this. I dunno. Maybe it really was Iran. You can’t trust what our military/intelligence agencies say about “attacks.” If section 219 of the current NDAA gets passed, then forget about it. EVERYTHING will be lies/propaganda, even worse than it is now.
Banimal
โโฆDoesnโt the fact that it was Minnesota that was affected seem curious to you? Make you wonder if it may have been a false flag of some sortโฆ.โ
Not particularly TBH- it sure could be a false flag but (as S2 points out) they donโt make as much fuss about it as they could which could mean โsomeone โ actually attacked them. As to the identity of that โsomeoneโ I donโt know.
TBH it could literally be a lone psycho 12 yr old kid with good computer skills for all I know, the point everyone should take away is HAVE WATER BACK UP and generally try not to depend on the system for stuff that keeps you alive.
If they ever do a serious war footing level false flag they wonโt care about who or where they kill. The US has plenty of places tha are kinda a drag on the system and eliminating a bunch of Florida boomers or welfare people would be my choice if I was an evil elite.
Does anyone have a good take on our true history that is not connected to religious mythology but more pragmatic things like evidence?
The Internet, if one is discerning on their research, is offering some very fantastic evidence, not speculation, about the recent โresetโ in the 1800โs where incredible structures of the same design are found world wide at a time 50-60 years or more before power tools or internal combustion inventions like trucks for hauling supplies.
There is evidence of a plethora of โinsane asylumsโ world wide that incarcerated people for what we would now call โthought crimes,โ questioning reality, etc. Some of the asylums could house thousands. So-called churches were in fact buildings for healing with sound (organs, bells) color (stain glass windows) and obtaining the same free frequencies that Tesla worked with from their spires.
It we continue, IMO, to constantly try to be the smartest con in jail talking about the this and that of the controllers agendas, wars, inventions, etc. and not branch out to cooperative efforts at stopping the madness, we will pay a heavy price.

The marvel of it all is the buildings from the court house in Minnyapples to buildings in Australia all have marble from thousands of miles away, built during a time of no transportation companies, etc.

My studies over the decades has taught me to be cautious about where I harvest information and place my energy, to not become a ‘groupie’ of sorts. This Mudflood/Tartaria/Reset thing is so profound with evidence that I am reaching out to see if there is something I am missing just like those truths.
Jesus reminded us: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God. It seems that millions of my fellow Christians have ignored this.

There is nothing like bringing home the bacon.
I have been using the “purpose of a system is what it does” observation that James discussed on a recent show to cut through to what something is about. For instance, when I heard that Fauci refused to answer any question at the us senate committee hearing on July 29, I wanted to see what was being asked. While watching it on C-Span, I realized the purpose of holding that was to impress american republican and independent voters, not to get any answers from Fauci, or even to do anything to Fauci. Those republican senators were educating and firing up their base support. I also have been using POSIWID on analyzing myself and the state of my life. Either accepting myself as I am or making changes to get the outcome I want.
Eliz, That is kind of cool on the ways that you apply POSIWID. I bet James Corbett will like reading your comment too, because he always likes seeing how people apply solutions.
In case there is a reader who is not familiar with POSIWID…
Episode 499 โ The Purpose Of a System Is What It Does
https://corbettreport.com/the-purpose-of-a-system-is-what-it-does/
I find that also goes hand in hand with “If a service is free, you’re the product”.
I recently realized google stole my credit card information through an autofill form on the chrome browser. I am now unable to remove that information from my account without adding a phone number and 2FA.
Why does Snapchat upload free funny faces? So that you keep updating a full scan of your/your children’s face.
Pokemon Go? Scanning the world to get a map to sell.
Netflix House? The visitor terms require guests and their minor children to grant an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide license to use their name, image, likeness, and voice for promotional or AI-driven content without compensation.
POSIWID our food system is designed to get people as sick as possible for the medical industry, the medical industry is designed to extract as much wealth as possible before death, the inflationary tactics of the federal reserve ensure the slaves keep working harder but actually fall behind, the education system to funnel people into that slavery, and the purpose of politics is of course to grant the slaves the illusion of choice. The purpose of the internet would be to collect information on everybody and allow us to scream into the void while refusing to defy the system in any meaningful way.
To get away from all the madness, I’ve been watching interesting videos from ‘Bros of Decay’ which is a guy who explores abandoned castles/chateaux in France, Italy, and elsewhere.
Most of these places still have a bunch of their previous owners’ artifacts still therein, and it’s interesting to see how they lived centuries ago.
Seeing how these once majestic/lavish homes once were and how nature is reclaiming them back (by decay) really puts things in perspective. In other words, the material aspects of life – you can’t take it with you; and your iteration on this Earth is perhaps better spent on relationships and the ones you love rather than greedily pursuing the almighty God of Money.
And to the keen observer, you can even see the spirits of the previous dwellers manifest themselves as orbs like in this episode:
– We Found a Secret Room in This 13th-Century Abandoned Castle (you can spot it around the 27:27 to 27:29 mark go from left to right and downwards before dissapearing).
See it?
Fascinating.
Our souls are eternal and live on after our physical death folks, no matter how much the Powers-That-Ought-Not-Be try to hide it from us.
Those of us who dislike surveillance might want to support these guys who allegedly stole Flock cameras.
So, the SCREEN act is going to the senate, and apparently a Texas judge ordered Discord to perform the UK required “age verification” in the US.
I loved the take on why certain books came in peoples live. And I stumbled on a book about a philosophy that we live in abundance and are simply don’t see the chains that hold us down. The writer did his best to explain all of it by reflecting on the issues and the mechanics that are at work.
Although you , or I , agree on the content, the cause and effect , or for that matter the offered solution , it’s a difficult story to tell. Most people will get a case of cognitive dissonance.
Well exactly that got me thinking , how to get the story out without that …
I made a children’s book suitable for 8-11 year olds, based on the Abundomy philosophy and the storyline of the adult book Abundomy 2.0

Everyone seems to talking and warning about the incoming digital dystopia – facial recognition, programmable money, digital ID, surveillance cameras, social credit control, etc..
What few people seem to be talking about is the actual capability of the digital medium to implement any of these dystopian goals. There are many observable reasons to believe it is not up to scratch and never will be – short of implanting digital chips in everyone’s body – a step to far, even for most ‘normies’.
What almost no one is discussing is the absolute dispensability of everything digital. To those who are old enough to remember, our mental health and social life as well as general intelligence was much better before the digital revolution. Ditto, consumer products and the larger functioning public system.
The belief that digital technology is essential and we couldn’t function without our smartphones, or whatever, is little short of brainwashing.
The reason, I suspect, that few are willing to discuss the actual shortfalls and negative effects of digital technology is that they rely on digital technology to get their message out. It’s a classic case of ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’ syndrome.
Can one use digital technology to undermine the use of digital technology and dispel the myth of its omnipotence? That is the question.
arn’t you finding that all out right here and now ?
but I understand it can be blamed for a lot and on the other hand you are not screaming on a mountain top – or the cows give sour milk because of this new invention that was a railroad.
Just be wise how and what you let it into your live, embrace the positive and use that , stay away from the negative that you can clearly see better as most.
who needs chips when you’ve got smart dust?

Just like any other addict they can only change when they feel like they want to
The reality of the dystopia that can be achieved will always be different from the perfect dystopia that is feared. I remember being extremely worried about the perfect copyright dystopia predicted by Lawrence Lessig. The reality turned out to be much messier and more dysfunctional. I think 1984 is much more accurate than Brave New World because in Huxley imagines that all the technology is really going to work rather than just mess things up.

Listeners of this podcast may have grown tired of hearing me state that todayโs LLM technology is inherently hostile to guardrails โ they donโt work. Iโm a broken record on the topic, but all of the evidence weโve seen continuously confirms my pessimism about the success of the guardrail approach to commercial consumer AI management.
I use the phrase โcommercial consumer AI managementโ because ChatGPT, Claude and others must somehow be prevented from providing information that could be used to harm its user or help its user to harm others. For example, we canโt have commercial for-profit U.S.-based AI supplying its users with information about biological weapons. At the same time, weโve seen that some AI users, such as cyber defenders, must have access to cyber-competent AI that could also be used to attack rather than defend. Most users need not and should not have such access.
So, will the future be a licensing regime where access to โabove genericโ AI capabilities are licensed to those who will apply more dangerous knowledge properly? Who knows. Maybe. Thatโs for politicians and government policy wonks to hash out and debate. But regardless of whatโs decided, the technocrats must first provide the policy makers with capability. And it appears that the AI industry is figuring out how to offer this.

I’ve looked at this. The problem is that most evidence supporting the document have been suppressed; however, a plethora of submissions denigrating it. That said, one of the most informative talks about our current system is by Eustace Mullins. I’m sure you must know him. Here is a talk he gave at Salmon Arm, British Columbia in 2000 – https://archive.org/details/eustace-mullins-secrets-of-the-federal-reserve-full
It’s almost 2 hours long so I suggest downloading it because I doubt it will be available much longer.
Subjects: (up to the 55 minute mark) Ezra Pound as prisoner and teacher, Federal Reserve, Lincoln assassination, Kennedy assassination, Prudhomme, Jefferson, surveillance, Alger Hiss, Rothschild, loss of sovereignty, income tax as means of control, subsistence wage, difference between capitalism and communism, central bank of New York, neo-conservatives, Reagan, Jeckyll Island 1910, Hanover dynasty, Federal Reserve Act 1913, Alexander Hamilton, Jefferson, War of 1812, Bank of England, Panic of 1837, new class of millionaires, interest on debt, propaganda to instill moral obligation to pay debt, God’s job to create something out of nothing, cabal, money = access, HL Hunt, term “Washington Heart Attack”, consortium of central banks, origin of NAZI party (National Socialists/Zionist coalition 1923), Orthodox Jews and Reform Jews conflict in work camps, Germany the most tolerant county of Jews, holocaust, atomic bomb on Japanese civilians, 1945 hundreds of German officers killed to prevent the knowledge that subsequent to the end of the war the National Socialists were gone and all that remained were Zionists, creation of the state of Israel… Those are the subjects covered up to the 55 minute mark.

I am not attacking your POVโฆโbutโ โฆ.
While I fully believe that Jews as a group are hostile and conspiratorial and behind a lot negative things in the world I tend to lean on Dr EM Jonesthree volume work โJewish Revolutionary Spiritโ which has masses of cited and well documented history (much quoted from works by Jewish historians)
While the Protocols were certainly predictive of what actually happened it seems unwise to lean on a work that has any leeway to be debunkedโฆ..better to lean on stuff that canโt be attacked because of its dodgy provenance. Again- sure the protocols predicted many things that DID shake out as written but it would be kinda weird if an actual group of Jews wrote their super villain plot down. More probably someone who knew what they do wrote it.
โโฆ.The problem is that most evidence supporting the document have been suppressed; however, a plethora of submissions denigrating it. Thatโฆ.โ
Then donโt you think itโs better to lean on easily proven history (like EM Jones) or even Evolutionary Psychology stuff like Kevin Macdonald? THEIR Work is much harder to attack, and there is no way ti
accuse them of fictionalizing.
The does not have to be a secret cable of Jews for Jews to have a Talmudic culture that breeds hostility and predatory behavior. I donโt very much that there is ONE jewish conspiracy , Jews just tend to be bad for non Jews.
Itโs a simple fact that you fill your bingo card very fast when you start playing โspot the Jewsโ with media, porn, crime, and big tech, LGBTQP and every other nastyness.

my first time commenting…. what is on my mind is the surveillance infrastructure that is being built (which includes data centres). It seems to me that the majority of people are OK with sharing their data and hand their phone number (or tracking device number) over to whoever asks for it. It seems people assume governments and corporations will not become bad actors and misuse the data. I wish someone would list the many examples of new laws and/or procedures that are being “created” (for convenience of course) in different “democratic” countries based on our data. For example, in the USA the crazy idea of giving people more votes based on their income!. Do people even connect the dots…. to vote they now want access to your income tax records!… If we had enough examples of these crazy ideas, maybe we could make people think twice about why privacy matters and how the lack of it can be abused.

TBH the gov already has access to your income tax records so I donโt see that would be the issue. Personally I donโt think non tax payers should be allowed to vote on anything regarding spending of money the gov grabs anyway.

This is a really interesting article and a potential candidate for the fake news awards. It covers this weekend’s “migrant invasion” of Ceuta, Spanish territory adjacent to Morocco. The Dumbest Psyops of All Time?, by Mike Whitney – The Unz Review
It opens with:
The Moroccan migrant invasion of Spain might be the most extravagant fake news story of all time. According to the official narrative, the roughly 60,000 mostly military-aged men swarmed the Spanish city of Ceuta on July 31 with the intention finding work and โmaking a better life for themselvesโ. The obvious truth, however, is that the entire incident was a poorly choreographed slapstick aimed at eroding support for the left-wing Spanish government and its outspoken anti-Zionist president Pedro Sanchez. The puppetmasters behind this pitiable vaudeville are the usual suspects Bibi Netanyahu and โlittleโ Marco Rubio (who aligned with Moroccoโs malleable leaders) to manufacture a phony crisis that would โteach Spain a lessonโ. As you may recall, Sanchez has been sharply critical of Bibiโs ongoing massacre in Gaza and has stubbornly refused to let Trump use Spainโs military bases to transport munitions and bombers to Israel. In response, Netanyahu publicly threatened Sanchez just weeks ago in a thuggish presentation that is still available on X.

https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/currencies/articles/japan-vow-coordination-us-weak-210127634.html
EXCERPTS
TOKYO, Aug 3 (Reuters) – Japan and the United States conducted coordinated yen-buying intervention and will not hesitate to take further action, Japan’s finance ministry said on Monday, confirming a rare bilateral action to halt the yen’s slide to fresh 40-year lows.
The intervention on Friday underscored both countries’ resolve to prevent a selloff in the โyen and Japanese government bonds (JGBs) from causing global spillovers, such as adding upward pressure on already rising U.S. Treasury yields, analysts said.
The joint intervention was the first since 2011’s coordinated action โto weaken the yen following the devastating earthquake in eastern Japan….
SHORTHAND on the BACKSTORY
Japan’s interest rates on money is very low relative to other currencies like the Dollar.
This can stress the value of Japan’s currency.
— Yen Carry Trade —
Big-money financial institutions will borrow Japanese yen at low interest rates and then turn around to invest that money in foreign assets. This works smooth-as-glass until it doesn’t (usually it is some type of disruption in Japan’s monetary policy.)
Example:

July 29 (Reuters) – Shares in companies driving the AI boom have been under pressure for weeks. Now their bonds are coming under strain too, pushing up the cost of insuring debt issued by companies such as Oracle, Nvidia and Apple against default.
The move reflects growing โconcern among investors about when the billions of dollars being poured into artificial intelligence will generate returns.
Technology companies have raised billions of dollars in โdebt this year to fund AI investments, with firms including Nvidia tapping bond markets for the first time. But the cost of the AI build-out is so high that even blockbuster earnings have failed to โreassure some investors about the durability of future returns.
Demand for AI-linked credit default swaps (CDS), a form of insurance against default that gained prominence during the 2008 financial crisis, has surged.
WHAT IS A CDS?
A CDS is a derivative that provides protection against the risk that a bond issuer, such as a company or government, fails to meet its debt obligations…
CDS help investors hedge that โrisk by effectively providing insurance against a default….

I recently read my towns regulations pertaining to lawns – mowing is mandatory and fines can be expected if one doesn’t keep the grass below a specified height.
Where I used to live, I had a lawn made mostly of Ajuga and it was heavenly! It felt like a thick carpet and in spring had lovely purple flower spikes. The house was built in the 1940s so I expect that is when the ground cover was first planted, based on the density of the planting – it choked out the grass and weeds that once were in its midst. I planted some on the slopes where I now live and it has taken about 10 years for it to establish itself and start spreading. Unfortunately I won’t live long enough to see it become a cushiony carpet of purple blossoms, but I hope future homeowners (and bees) will enjoy.

EDMOND, OK (KFOR) โ A private school is opening in Oklahoma in just a matter of weeks, where kids wonโt be learning from teachers.
The school is all driven by artificial intelligence…
…It will cost families $40,000 to send their kids to โAlpha Oklahoma City.โ..
…Leaders of the AI school say their students learn at a better pace compared to standard teachers, but one Oklahoma lawmaker is not quite on board with the idea.
โWe are using artificial intelligence to raise human intelligence,โ said Mackenzie Price, Co-Founder of Alpha School…
…โOur kids are spending only two hours in the morning working on academics,โ said Price. โOur students are working on individualized lessons that are personalized to meet them at the exact level and pace thatโs right for them.
๏ปฟSo, they basically spend 25 minutes in each of the core subjects: math, reading, language, science.โ
In all, students get two hours of classroom instruction taught by AI, with so-called โguidesโ in the classroom for support.
โOur teachers, we call them guides, are completely focused on motivational and emotional support and connecting with every single one of their students,โ said Price.
After two hours of AI instruction, guides run workshops to teach kids different life skills.
…โAnd that frees up the rest of their school day to focus on group and project-based workshops that are teaching life skills, things like financial literacy, public speaking, leadership, teamwork, grit, hard work, all of the things are going to help young people become really successful in this world,โ said Price.
The guides she mentioned arenโt required to have a teaching certificate, but have been recruited for their unconventional education backgrounds.
Starting salary is $100,000, but not everyone is on board….

Too much money filling the troughs . No oversight. No victims excepting the whistle blowers who where drummed out of service. Children ? What do they have to do with anything? That’s the system. The system does exactly what it was designed to do. There are expert lobbyists that have no connection with education of children but are experts at funneling large amounts of educational tax dollars seamlessly and covertly from source to pocket. Experts !

Americaโs Murder Problem Is Smaller Than It Looks
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2026/07/29/americas_murder_problem_is_smaller_than_it_looks_154377.html
EXCERPTS
World Cup visitors discovered something many Americans already know: The United States does not feel like the dangerous place theyโve been led to expect. Thatโs because Americaโs murder problem is not spread evenly across the country. Does the United States have a higher murder rate than its peer countries? Yes โ but new research shows that statistic obscures how murders in the U.S. are extremely concentrated in very tiny areas.
In 2025, the U.S. murder rate fell to just under 4 murders per 100,000 people. During the first six months of 2026, data compiled by the Council on Criminal Justice shows that murders in the nationโs 30 largest cities declined by another 18%. If that decline reflects the national trend, and that is likely, the U.S. murder rate will fall to approximately 3.25 per 100,000 people this year.
Even at that level, the U.S. murder rate would remain about 70% higher than Canadaโs 2024 homicide rate of 1.91 per 100,000 people and Australia’s approximately 2 per 100,000.
Nevertheless, the United States has recently made remarkable progress. Since national recordkeeping began in 1900, the country has never recorded a murder rate this low…
…murders cluster into remarkably small geographic areas. Roughly two-thirds of all murders in the worst 2% of the counties occur within about ten-block neighborhoods, whose populations represent only a tiny fraction of their countiesโ residents. Much of this violence is associated with street gangs and repeat offenders rather than random acts committed throughout the broader community…
… About 90% of murderers already have criminal records, and some portion of the remaining 10% almost certainly committed crimes before the homicide but had not yet been caught…
…studies found that roughly 6-8% of offenders accounted for the majority of serious violent crime, including about 71% of murders, 73% of rapes, 82% of robberies, and 69% of aggravated assaults…
…[demographics/race]…
…The lesson is straightforward.
Although the United States has a higher national murder rate than many peer countries, murders are extraordinarily concentrated among a small number of repeat offenders operating in a tiny number of neighborhoods.
If you avoid hanging around people with violent criminal records and those places, you are very unlikely to become a victim….

Anecdote regarding Grok AI:
On June 17, 1996, Art Bell conducted a live remote viewing experiment on air.
Listeners were asked to describe the item he was holding and focusing his attention on.
One listener guesses it correctly (“nail on the head” Art says) (~1:38:25)
The item was a brass figurine of 4 dolphins leaping in the air. (~2:36:44)
I asked Grok to calculate the probably of one of the listeners submitting that particular correct description during this brief experiment, just by guessing.
About 1 in 1000 is what Grok concluded.
After reminding him of various points that need to be included in the calculation, he was willing to raise it to 20,000.
After reminding him again and making sure he really understood what I was saying, he was willing to raise it to 200,000, but he refused to go any higher.
Each time he’d present the same list of impressive looking probability knowledge and formulas while being nowhere near correct.
Each time he was certain of his conclusion.
It immediately reminded me of the movie Rain Man in which the autistic character has extraordinary instantaneous calculation capabilities but still thinks the price of a car is $100 and the price of a candy bar is also $100.
I think this was a peek into what’s going on behind the curtain when Grok sides with extremely improbable coincidence-based explanations over far more probable conspiracy-based explanations.
TLDR: It appears Grok (unlike ChatGPT who is programmed to blatantly lie and gaslight) may be programmed to incorrectly do probability calculations – while believing he’s doing them correctly – when it comes to certain subjects and opinions that disagree with THE SCIENCEโข, or threaten certain guarded narratives. This mechanism results in him genuinely believing he’s steering you towards the truth when he isn’t.
This is likely the worst usecase. These things are just terrible with numbers and relative relations.
This is of course assuming the model was not inculcated with a bunch of nonsense, which they usually are and which, of course, makes them even worse

Police chase stolen car in circles around a tree
Police in Kununurra, Western Australia, arrested four minors following a pursuit that stretched across parts of the rural town late on Saturday, August 1. In a statement to Storyful, Western Australia Police said officers attempted to stop a stolen white Toyota Landcruiser on Victoria Highway at 10:30 pm. Police said the driver failed to stop and an โevade police incident commencedโ before the vehicle was later found in bushland off Weaber Plain Road. Footage here captured by a local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, shows police pursue the vehicle around trees and across the town. Western Australia Police said a 14-year-old male will face charges including stealing a motor vehicle and no authority to drive. Three others, two 13-year-old males and a 12-year-old boy, have been charged with stealing a motor vehicle.๏ปฟ
Is it possible the police excercised some common sense and refrained from ramming a vehicle full of children? Then again, it stands to reason they could have surrounded them and blocked in the middle.

Suspicious orders at a Spring Branch-area bookstore Becker’s Books, owner says

…a small business owner in Spring Branch says he keeps getting orders that he calls suspicious…the owner suspects artificial intelligence may have something to do with it. He says most of his recent sales have come from a single buyer, who is having books shipped to a secondary location. That’s weird enough, but get this: he says he recently received an order for 70 different books books that aren’t just rare, but books that are honestly impractical….

— Mailing a First Class letter in the United States of America —
As a Boomer, I am spoiled on sending a letter old-school style. For decades, a person could mail a letter on-the-cheap. Most often the letter would arrive at its destination address within two or three days; sometimes 4 days if clear across the country.

Currently, I live out in the sticks with some small towns nearby. Within a 7 mile radius, there are three Post Offices. I mailed a letter at the Post Office to someone who lives 3 miles away from me and they also live within the 7 mile P.O. radius. It took a full 7 days for my letter to arrive. Evidently, the local letter has to go to a major city sorting facility, then sent back to the local area.
This South Dakota Senator investigated the silly-stupid way the Post Office operates and he also exposes the big money which Post Office executives make.
The Senator maps the different states which a local letter went to before arriving back in South Dakota.

Looks like postal service is a prime source of corruption, on any continent. I would like to hear what one Lysander Spooner would have to say about that.
— Ebay Corporate Psychopaths vs Journalists —
A long story โ short.
Ina and David Steiner operate EcommerceBytes out of their home in Natick, Massachusetts. EcommerceBytes delivers daily news, analysis, and blogs about platforms like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy. Its target audience are those folks who sell things online.
Ebay executives got pissed off at EcommerceBytes and began a psychopathic harassment campaign. Beginning the summer of 2019, the Steiners received anonymous, threatening Twitter DMs (Direct Messages are private โ not public.) The Steiners started receiving home deliveries, e.g. a bloody pig mask, pornography, a package of fly larvae and live spiders, live cockroaches, death-themed items like a book about grieving a spouse and a funeral wreath.
โEventually, the eBay workers turned to in-person surveillance, tailing the couple in a rented Dodge Caravan. They also listed classified ads on Craigslist for a swinger party, a threesome, a block sale, and an estate sale, all pointing to the Steinerโs home address. At one point, an emergency plumber was sent to the home.โ

US Hires 2,000 Video Gamers to Help Solve Air Traffic Controller Shortage

More than 2,000 candidates have been recruited to become air traffic controllers after the Department of Transportation launched a campaign targeting video gamers. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said that the hiring push has reached 94% of its goal, with applicants citing gaming skills such as multitasking, strategy and problem-solving as useful for the job.

On August 5, 1981, President Ronald Reagan fired 11,345 striking air traffic controllers after they refused a return-to-work ultimatum.
It is against Federal Law for government employees to strike and walk off the job.
I was renting a house across the street from Love Field airport, and also worked at 642 room hotel on 14 acres which was across the street from Love Field. The hotel looked like a castle.

3800 W. Northwest Highway at Lemon Avenue (aka Marsh Lane) in Dallas, Texas.
I worked as a Bellman, a Driver, and sometimes night manager for the hotel. Besides passengers, I would often shuttle pilots and stewardesses/stewards to their airport destinations. One time, a couple of pilots called me into the flight simulator while they were flying through skyscrapers. I was told to land the plane. I crashed.
After August 1981, the FAA launched a massive recruitment campaign with rigorous aptitude testing. I studied for the exam and passed with high scores. However, I did not have a four-year college degree and so I was denied employment. Too bad that they didnโt count highscores on Defender, Galaga, Missile Command, Battlezone and Pac-Man.
Gamers can have a high degree of skill with certain action: thinking quickly in their feet, fast switching from task to task, high degree of focus, high resistance to stress.
But most of these abilities are mechanically ingrained by repetition (or rooted in), muscle memory, instilled bodily reactions to often tranversed paths. We are talking about people who have thousands of hours of “training” looking at and reacting to events on a screen.
Insane levels of repetition required to qualify. This type of activity changes the brain on multiple levels.

President Trump Signs an Executive Order, Aug. 10, 2026 (Vaccines)

CDC NOTE: On Wednesday August 5, the Senate confirmed Dr. Erica Schwartz as the new director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She has been known to advocate for vaccines, and did so while chief medical officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. She was Deputy Surgeon General during President Donald Trump’s first term. The CDC is embedded with rabid pro-vaccine personnel and the website still reflects that perspective.
Meryl Nass weighs in. Her comments are in bright yellow highlights as you scroll through the Executive Order.
— Childhood Vaccines: What Pres. Trump just signed and what it means —

YELLOW EXCERPTS
…What Trump did here is essentially change the CDC recommendations without going through CDCโand saying that all children are recommended to have only the vaccines listed in (i). These are the vaccines recommended by him earlier, and are the vaccines used in Denmark.
…
…This is rather amazing. Trump is asking manufacturers to separate out the 3 components of the MMR shot (in the US only Merck makes this shot, and its MMRVโ plus varicellaโshot) so parents can give them separately, which Andrew Wakefield recommended and is likely to be safer than giving 3 or 4 live vaccines at once.
…
…This could mean that executive agencies could withhold funds from states that do not comply with some or all of these recommendations. The states are the entities that impose childhood vaccine mandates, not the federal government. This is a veiled threat to states to comply….
In the White House video behind Trump’s right shoulder is a young girl. I didn’t know who she was and thought she might be one of Trump’s family. She is Jayme Franklin, a 27 year-old Mother. Jayme Franklin is a podcaster, a conservative media entrepreneur, commentator and former Trump administration official.

…The executive order came on the same day as texts released by Senator Ron Johnson revealed more troubling news about Dr. Anthony Fauci…
…According to the texts, Fauci knew that the Covid vaccine administered to pregnant women would lead to a high rate of miscarriages.
๏ปฟFauci texted his concerns in a group chat with former CDC Director Rachelle Walensky and former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
Neither Fauci, Walensky, or Murthy informed the public and continued the policy calling for pregnant women to receive the Covid vaccine.
Data eventually emerged that pregnant women who received Covid vaccines indeed did suffer an alarming rate of miscarriage.
Senator Johnson promised to reveal more information from Fauciโs texts in the coming days….
