In the 70’s I was doing reporting and onair work at KPFA Pacifica Radio in Berkeley. One of the thing we noticed is when we covered a local event what was put out by the Bay Area MSM were almost two different events.
They always seemed to either put a photo up of some slob or some chick in a Beret or something. Depending on their slant.

Maybe Finland might be a good idea, they recently had a problem with wolves and stated to cull them for daring to venture into urban area’s. I’m damn sure the wolves can claim their right to being there over humans, but so far haven’t the public voice to do so.

I didn’t know cutting in line was a thing but I don’t go to town often enough to be aware but I have been to Scotland and can say from experience wolfs cutting in line is normal. You are being used as the metafore for the English constantly screwing with the Scots. I’m surprised the English scientists didn’t dump leopards at Authors Seat and claim it was to mitigate global warming. You know, some cats to counter the dogs. Now you know how the Scots feel and yes they would not have given the same reply. They would get out of bed if they couldn’t find a line to cut into.

I was looking into Thomson Reuters foundation a little while back when I was intrigued by the media frenzy regarding Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe who was detained in Iran from 3 April 2016 to 16 March 2022. I found out that Thomson Reuters were her employers. I then discovered Israel Beer Josephat who later converted to Christianity and changed his name to Paul Reuter so he could get married to Ida Maria Elizabeth Clementine Magnus of Berlin (daughter of a German banker) was the founder of the Reuters news agency and made a Baron by Queen Victoria in 1891, in 1872 he signed a deal with the Shah of Iran to sell him all rail roads, canals, forests, mines and all future industries of Iran until the deal was denounced by all ranks across Persia and it was cancelled. The British media obviously didn’t want to reveal why the Iranians had some pretty serious concerns about her and her employers.

With regards to the wolves being released in Scotland thing, it is actually a great idea (and for reasons that have nothing to do with all that carbon emissions/climate change bs).
Basically, if you look at what this guy has dedicated his life to : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V58ms3rxNpc and then imagine what he is trying to do sped up by not having to build fences, you can see what the benefit of re-introducing Key-Stone species such as Wolves and Lynx could do for Scotland (and Ireland).
People often think of Ireland and Scotland as endless rolling sheep pastures but that image is the result of Generational Amnesia (and “the shifting baseline syndrome”). Both of those lands were once heavily forested.
Humans (Romans and then British industrialists) removed 99% of the forests from Scotland and Ireland as well as all the large predators from both areas. Those two land masses used to have highly productive Oak food forests managed by the indigenous population and the diverse tree species provided soil stability, enhanced water quality and created flowing springs all over the place. Removing the forests has crippled the soil, salmon populations (which are supported at an ecosystem foundation level by compound that is washed out to sea, which produced by decomposing oak leaves) and it has dried up many springs.
Wolves would balance out the deer population and change their movements, resulting in a change in the behavior of rivers, shifting the shape of water habitat and creating Trophic Cascade ripple effects that would serve to increase food resilience for human communities in the future.
So, while that carbon emissions/climate change nonsense should be laughed at, please do not throw the baby out with the bathwater with regards to important work relating to reintroducing keystone predators to degraded forest habitats where herbivores like deer have taken over.

I love wolves. They are one of my favorite animals. Predators are important for ecosystems. They are part of the balance of nature. Large industrial scale farming, IMO is toxic to the environment and to humans because often it not only includes destruction and imbalance of the environment but also the “food” and drugs given to farm animals is harmful.
As a meat eater I do value having access to meat from animals, but there are alternatives to industrial farming. I also don’t like eating meat that might be contaminated with crap or obtained from tortured animals. Smaller farms are much better for the environment.
Hunting is also a good way to obtain meat.
I would guess that a majority of people wouldn’t like to live in a world without some of these large predators. I think they are a joy to watch (from a distance).
While I think reasoning behind releasing wolves into the environment is faulty, I think it might be helpful nevertheless.
There are probably ways that humans can continue to farm while also having predators roam.
We have a lot of Coyotes where I live and also people who raise animals and have devised ways to protect them. There will be an occasional loss of livestock but it’s infrequent.
I think there are even a few mountain lions near my area in higher elevation. I would hate to have them disappear.

Yes there are ways to grow food on a farm scale and have livestock even with large predators within the surrounding ecosystem.

It’s unfortunate how the “climate change” narrative has muddied the waters with legitimate environmental issues.
It requires one to sift through things and separate out what is valid and what is not.
It’s seems to be common sense that if an element of the “food chain” is disturbed it will have consequences for everyone in the chain. I know that overpopulation of deer can damage forests. Having some large predator species to limit that should help.
Human beings having the capacity to think logically should be able to figure it out. One of the huge problems is laziness. Everyone wants convenience but that comes at great cost.

Agreed about the muddied waters and greenwashing propaganda used by oligarchs and tyrants. It confuses people into adopting the irrational view that people who are vocal proponents of ecological regeneration and protecting/enhancing biodiversity are “part of the bad guys team”.
That kind of cognitive dissonance can result in people cheering for corporate exploitation of the Earth and poisoning of their own drinking water (because their guru or political savior of the week is promoting some specific tech or resource extraction). I suppose it is a sort of karma, but its the next generation that will pay even more than we do, so I would like to not go down that path.

I suppose when it comes to something like re-introducing predators to an ecosystem dominated by deer (or some other herbivore) that prevent natural forest regeneration and soil stability the good news is that the wolves (or what ever keystone predator species one might introduce) will really do a lot of the heavy lifting for us.
In that situation the laziness problem is more on the farmers, that would rather just stay stagnant in their current ways, and demonize wolves, rather than learn to co-exist with them and alter their live stock operations accordingly.
I have a friend that is working on getting Lynx back into the Caledonian Forest in Scotland and I am pretty excited about that. I hope to visit some day and be able to see them re-claiming the lands of my ancestors and helping bring balance to the land with their gifts.

Kinda an unrelated quibble but the Romans did nothing to Ireland OR Scotland….. Agricola had a poke around up in Scotland but (which at that time had no Scots living there IIRC, lolol, since they were still in Ireland) but the Romans never conquered the place nor did they conquer Ireland.

The biggest killer of forests in Europe I know of was not industrialists but small holders burning firewood- the Black Death saved English forests by reducing the population so I read but I am no medievalist.

Your usage of the term paints a picture of a unified boogie man bad guy acting as part of a concerted effort when in reality, when it comes to ecological restoration projects and re-introduction of keystone species (both in Scotland and abroad) we are talking about hundreds of different organizations, composed of tens of thousands of individuals.
Each of those organizations and individuals possessing varying degrees of awareness as to the true nature of the true geo-political power structure on Earth. Most of them likely believing some fairy tale about the righteous, true, pure and “civilized” ways of “democracy”.
So why are “they” doing it?
There are about a hundred different answers to that question. Each of them true.
And when it comes to re-introduction of a keystone species, I would like for you to give me a hypothetical reason why some shadowy bad guy “they” group would be doing it (in the interest of “demolitioning the west”).

I think you have deployed this deflection tactic (after commenting to me) because to for you to name names, would highlight how absurd and cartoonish your imagined version of reality is (pertaining to a dramatic showdown occurring between the forces of good and evil, in which only people like you can see a clearly divided dichotomy between black and white, no grey areas). And it would especially highlight how nonsensical that dualistic (neat and tidy) cartoonish version of reality is pertaining to this wolves thing specifically.
It may be easier to imagine the world in a cartoonish manner of starkly divided “good” and “bad”, and creating a list of “unpure” talking points or terms (which if anyone mentions them, immediately indicates they are most certainly on “team bad”) but that is just laziness and does not reflect the world of nuance we live in (with myriad people at different stages of awareness and being motivated by varying degrees of self interest, generosity, courage or cowardice).
