JEPilato finally reveals why the music of the 90’s was so epic:
To keep us occupied while they rolled out the GMO bioweapons, switched jet fuel and started the modern chemtrail phenomenon, and in general got a lot of nefarious crap popping off while we were busy damaging our hearing.
In retrospect, pretty crappy tradeoff. But the music was pretty epic.
At least 90s music was “happy”- something went weird after 2000.
Did you miss the 80’s or something? 🙂
I honestly didn’t have much time in the 80s for music, but I actually kinda like most of it….even the weird stuff was normally fun (even Kate Bush and her “chips of plutonium twinkling in every king….” Was only mildly disturbing.

Busy for music for a long time then tuned in and half the crap now makes my skin crawl. The other half is close enough to AI music i experimented with that I wonder if people made it.

Ha, yes I know what you mean. There’s a guy on Mixcloud called GenericmaleDJ’s who does a weekly show of 80’s music. I’ve been listening to him for years and always look forward to it.
As an aside we spoke about my move away from Windows to Kubuntu recently. This week my phone battery gave up the fight so I had to buy another phone. With fear and trepidation I loaded GrapheneOS on the new phone and am now free of both MS and Google. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? 🙂

Iirc graphene is pixel only? I might try it out when my phone dies…I keep wanting to get a pine phone but I can’t really justify spending money on it since I got my current device as a gift and it’s pretty new.
How are you likeing kubuntu? Does your machine feel faster too? Is the desktop to your liking? I think Ubuntu Mate made a tool called “tweak” that gave you like 8 different themes so you could be windows like, Mac like , or a ton of others.
I recall being freaked out by the file system in Linux because there is no “c” drive and I did not get that I had a “home “ folder instead…..lol now I can’t find stuff on windows machines when I’m fixing them.
Anyway congratulations on the phone and joining the linux club.
It’s been a learning experience and chat GPT has been indispensable in getting it setup and working the way I want. Am getting used to the file system slowly but I can find pretty much all of what I need now. If you are unsure you can run a linux distro from a USB stick (it will run slower of course) or install it as a duel boot setup. I have it on a separate ssd and widows on it’s own ssd and can choose between them on bootup.
Yes GrapheneOS needs to go on a Pixel phone (ironically). The Pixel 10 is coming out in August so I was able to get a Pixel 9 at a not-too-bad price this week. I looked at buying one already degoogled but they were about $1500 plus (aud) which is way more than I want to pay for a stupid phone. 🙂
So far am enjoying the peace of mind knowing the camera isn’t watching me and the mic isn’t listening to every thing I say. With GOS you can also set up profiles which are sandboxed from each other so you can have a normal profile and maybe one for work if you do need to use google software on it for some reason. Most of the apps I use I was able to install without the play store. There are only one or two non-important ones that I haven’t bothered with because they do require the Play Store to operate. Even though GOS installs the PlayStore sandboxed I’d rather go completely google free if I can.

I don’t know him IRL and haven’t talked to him in a while, but all my interactions with him indicate that he’s good people.
There’s a broad range of price options for devices, and honestly there’s not that much improvement from one model to its successor, and sometimes regression. The elimination of SD card slots and standard audio jacks is one example. These design changes increase the likelihood that someone will use cloud storage and wireless ear buds for convenience.

I realize that this is the second reply I’ve made in a brief period, both seemingly critical, but I hope you can see that I’m not being adversarial, not attacking you.

I think that people lose sight of the fact that AI is computer code.
AI didn’t trigger anything. AI didn’t choose anything. AI didn’t blame or frame anyone.
AI was the tool that some assholes used.
That’s it.
I’m not defending AI. I’m a caveman who prefers simplicity and low tech living. I’ve never willingly interacted with AI – no chat bots, no AI art programs, none of that. And I think AI is almost exclusively a tool of destruction, even when built and deployed with the best of intentions. People who rely on AI grow soft and weak. They atrophy intellectually and cognitively, and the process is pretty rapid.
I’m saying that the moment enough people get sucked into that sort of thinking – assigning ANY agency or responsibility to a computer code – I don’t see a way back out again.
I hope everyone here understands that the right to bear arms is a fundamental, nonnegotiable, inalienable right.
The title of this article,

is just as ridiculous as an article titled:
‘The Rifle that Triggered a War’
No rifle has ever triggered anything.
No computer code has ever triggered anything.
