…Authorities say Law sold sodium nitrate and other lethal chemicals between 2020 and May 2023 through a network of online businesses, marketing the products to people seeking ways to end their lives….
Sodium nitrate NaNO3 (and its cousin additive sodium nitrite NaNO2) is a common preservative used to cure meat products including bacon, deli meat, sausage and jerky. It has been linked to the development of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other diseases. The nitrate form can convert into the nitrite which has more toxicity.
Potassium nitrate (saltpeter) acts very much like sodium nitrate (Chile saltpeter.) They both can be used to make explosives (e.g. gunpowder) or for fertilizer or other industrial applications.
Bat guano contains a high amount of potassium nitrate.
Plants typically contain a fair amount of potassium and when composted a “potassium nitrate salt” will form. In days of old, bat guano or a compost method was often used to obtain saltpeter for gunpowder (75% saltpeter, 15% charcoal, 10% sulfur.)
Nitrates/nitrites are a real problem in the drinking water overall.
In highly fertilized areas like Iowa, “blue baby syndrome” will occur with human babies and with some new-born animals. “Blue baby syndrome” happens where an infant’s blood cannot carry enough oxygen and thus their skin turns blue-gray. Their gut can’t yet process the nitrate/nitrite. Typically, every Spring there is an uptick in infant deaths for those regions with high nitrate levels.
ANECDOTE
During my Junior High School years, I wanted to make some gunpowder. I had charcoal and sulfur, but no saltpeter. I rode my bike to the small-town pharmacy and asked the pharmacist for some saltpeter. He told me that only my Father could buy it.
So, at home one day I said to my Dad, ”Dad, I ran out of something in my chemistry set. The pharmacist said that only you could buy it. Would you mind getting it for me?”
He was actually glad that I had such an interest in chemistry and promptly drove us both to the pharmacy. There he purchased the saltpeter container with my money. He had no clue was I was up to.
Weeks went by as I perfected my gunpowder mix and I was going to start with a big rocket. The whole neighborhood was very quiet that Sunday afternoon – the football game was on. On our driveway, I lit the fuse to my ‘rocket’ but it fell onto the fuse area. Then BOOM! It could be heard for I don’t know how far.
So AI bots regarded “Bixomania” disease as real. People fail to realise that given that papers were published online describing Bixomania as real, then in the digital world, which AI is confined to, it IS real.
This is the fact that most people fail to grasp – the reality gap between the physical world and the digital world.
Anything can exist and be considered real in the digital world, including man-made climate change, dangerous viral pathogens, aliens, unicorns, you-name-it.
The confusion arising from the mental synthesis of the digital and physical worlds lies at the heart of many of our real and imaginary troubles in the social world.
The answer may be to return to the happier, and dare I say it, more innocent world that existed before the rise and dominance of the digital world – a world only us over 50 year olds can even remember.

Been singing and writing about this for decades but as you pointed out, there is a perception difference. Most, not all, but most under 50 have had their ‘beliefs’ and understandings shaped and molded by the lies of the pop culture world, movies, TV, music, and the 2D world.
Being articulate and ‘rational’ about lies, mistruths, mis directions, history, etc. doesn’t make people any more intellectually advanced then the current AI foolishness where harvesting the nonsense from the web quicker then normal seems fabulous. But it is just drinking from the same poison well.
We are in a war that the majority are unable to grasp or acknowledge.

It always bothers me that something that I experienced in the 50’s – 60’s SF Bay Area gets interpreted by people who weren’t there or didn’t participate in the clarity and consciousness expansion by millions of us. Like one of those made for TV movies of the week where most everything alternative is made to be harmful and wrong.
In college in the 60’s for me there were 100 MILLION less folks around and we weren’t living with eyes closed there just wasn’t the immense communication networks set up, albeit fake news today, for our research into the machinations of the political/social realities. We actually talked to each other face to face in coffee houses, singing at open mics in church basements, etc. read classics and current brilliant folks then.
The activities in Berkeley and the UC Campus and other Bay Area areas was profound.
An East Coast acquaintance said this on the Sproul Hall steps:

You are correct that there was much more face to face reality- but it’s not like anyone – not even you who avoided so much media- lives totally outside of the fake reality.
On the time scale of when the world “became fake” I don’t think that’s the right question, it’s always been “fake” to an extent because (unless your an ostracized weirdo) everyone always “checks reality” via social feedback….how people react to what you say will shape MOST peoples view on of their correct or incorrect. The only people who totally do without reality checking are “crazy” , in that they are seen as being disconnected from reality. They may actually BE crazy, or they may be like the dude who escapes Plato’s cave, but either way they are no longer able to interact with people in a normal level.
The media control of mass thought goes back forever IMO, but ed Bernayes made it scientific in the 20s…advertising and psychology getting together made mass control powerful enough to over come common sense in SOME people. The ‘some’ has become most people.
As to you and your period of time
You certainly were able to do more testing of reality vs the media messaging BUT even then the people you were checking reality with were themselves TO SOME EXTENT programmed by the culture and media they lived in.
Take the “counter culture “ itself, sure those IN it were doing face to face contact but the people actually popularizing it were basically Ad men, and the people funding it were spooks and other creeps. Dig into the music, the drugs, and the social movements and you don’t need to go deep to find the spooks.
My point in the last post was not aimed at any one period, or individual, they have been changing their methods of mass control, from newspapers to radio to movies to TV to the internet to smartphones.
