Derrick Broze of The Conscious Resistance joins us today to discuss Chapter 13 of his new documentary, The Pyramid of Power. We talk about what technocracy is, how people can opt out of systems of control, how and why they should start building communities and networks in line with their non-technocratic values and why (sometimes) being a butthead is a good solution.

The 45-day Exit and Build Challenge
Why mock those who ask “have you been to Waco?”
I’ve been to the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, and have seen what is left and what the ATF did. It’s not like people are making it up, like it didn’t happen. The burned out ruins are still there. The school bus is still there. You can walk on ground where the government murdered innocent children.
When people ask “have you ever been to Waco?” It’s usually because one of these guys is on stage talking about buying a whole bunch of land in Texas to build a compound under a 508c(1)a.
Probably not the best idea.
Especially if you’re not even the deed holder, and you’re going to be living, or renting from one of these guys, who have reinvented themselves as a guru or “spiritual leader.”
For me, that’s wandering uncomfortably close to cult territory.
I think there’s a difference between building a freedom-focused community, and building a compound.
If there’s a guy who owns 100 acres, and you pay him rent, and where you have to clear things by him, where you have to answer to him… that guy is a feudal lord.
You’re not necessarily any better off paying rent to that guy, than living in metropolitan Los Angeles.
Maybe if you own your own plot of land somewhere, where you hold the deed, and you’re part of a larger community that believes in freedom, that would be different.
It’s only ok if you are able to stand in your own power.
I’m less afraid of the government, than being micromanaged by a small group of people with utopian ideals.
I’m not against permaculture or the idea of agora, if it’s done in a way where I could have autonomy over my own body and land.
I’m skeptical of these “like minded individuals” who pray in public and want to sell me land.
The desire to leave, I think, comes from a fearful place. There are people in the freedom community that are primed and ready to take advantage of that fear, and profit from it.
“Have you been to Waco?” Is a valid question.
I’ve also heard of Jim Jones.
And I don’t necessarily want to encapsulate myself with “like minded people.”
I want to be around people with different viewpoints and life experiences.
I want to be able to have productive arguments.
Sometimes I want others to challenge my own beliefs.
Hi Iamfreeiamme,
Good points. Something I read from Wendell Berry in 1999 still resonates in my mind. He discusses the broader issue of distrusting any movement, even if speaks to an issue dear to you. Here is a link to the article: https://orionmagazine.org/article/in-distrust-of-movements/
Cheers
Thank you for the link to the article. (Even if you’re implying I lack some imagination lol)
I am often skeptical, but willing to explore new movements and ideas. I’m open, until series of things ring hollow or insincere, and I become guarded.
Did you catch what Derrick said about “sucking them in”?
To “suck” people in, isn’t language that a sincere person would use.
That’s marketing/sales language.
That’s some Glengarry Glen Ross stuff, right there.
Close the deal by “sucking them in.”
I have no taste for that.
I think what he meant is pique their interest. I don’t think he is just trying to make a buck. There is a place for marketing, even content like this. I think motives matter and the actual product your selling matters.
I would not be so quick to dismiss the feudal lord. The early feudal system was probably the freest time in European history for those who are actually willing and able to be free. The reality is that around 80% of the human race are peasants, and they are never going to be anything but peasants. They want to fit in to the herd and be told what to do and what to think. They are profoundly uncomfortable outside of some type of outside control.
The question of freedom is a question for those who are willing and able to be free. Those who are willing to go out on their own and start something new, to risk independence. Those who do want freedom still need the peasants, and will have to have a way of providing them with the leadership and comfortable conformity that the peasants will demand. Something like a modern version of the feudal manor is probably the best way to do that, especially if there are a lot of different manors and lords to choose from, and movement between them is relatively easy. That is probably the closest thing we are going to get to Ancapistan in my lifetime or even that of my children’s children.
Chancey
“….The reality is that around 80% of the human race are peasants, and they are never going to be anything but peasant…..”
Uncomfortable truth.
I think if you have a good society that trains people in how to actually function as free people you could get the number a bit higher then 20% but the current system is disgustingly perverse and trains people to be MORE dependent then they would otherwise need to be.
The fact is that just about no one who talks about freedom wants to talk about the issue that not everyone is going to be happier or better off with more freedom then they are trained to handle- thus they end up media controled and worse off then they were before
“80% of the human race are peasants, and they are never going to be anything but peasants.”
an open minded free thinker could never support such arrogance.
Vadom
“….an open minded free thinker could never support such arroganc….”
But is he WRONG???
If so HOW is he wrong?
in my experience, next to the will to stay alive, most people are willfully willful. Many are running bent because of toxins so their choices are often way out of line, nevertheless they choose for what they think they like, which is the antithesis of letting someone else choose for you. I agree, it happens, but I’d guess its rarely conscious
Baron
“…in my experience, next to the will to stay alive, most people are willfully willful…”
Possibly you have self selected to be with people like yourself? That what most people tend to do, judge everyone by the kind of people in their own circle of acquaintances.
Can you show me a historical time when more then a fraction of folks were not just doing what their told???
If people are generally “willfully willful” then why did so many of them spend their lives as actual chattel slaves and as peasants? Why do so many people just accept the status quo as their ancestors did? Can you blame toxins for olden tymes when people were actual peasants? Or for them working in the dark satanic mills of the industrial revolution? Or when mass man walked into machine gun fire during ww1?
How many people do you know who refuse to pay taxes? How many people tell their annoying boss to shove his job?
Sure, people like to be willful in small ways but generally they run in their own lane and do what they’re told. Even the Boomer rebel was not really “rebellious” against the system, they were just going along with the media mind control and becoming what the controllers wanted them to become…..and this version freeyhas helped people do what exact???? Become miserable and poor because they’re taught to eschew the “restrictive” values that drive them into choices that gave them reasonably happy life outcomes? Mass media mind control has turned even more people lumpen proles and bug people who are part of the machine if industrial society
Thanks for sharing that comment. It’s interesting to hear a different viewpoint. I think that the number is a bit high though and I think a lot of people conform because they desire social interaction rather than isolation. It’s not necessarily that they want to be told what to do, but they don’t want to be alone.
The notion that having a leader-follower relationship (that changes depending on circumstance) is bad, or unnatural I think is an error.
I don’t think leadership is a bad thing. Some people are natural at inspiring people and helping them but a good leader doesn’t try to be an authoritarian but collaborates and tries to empower people.
A good leader takes suggestions and doesn’t lead to have power over others, but is rather a guide.
I thought it was “have you ‘heard’ of Waco” as in doomers saying you cant build anything or “they come for you”
Waco was just unlucky series of events- I doubt the Gov set out to make itself look bad by setting fire ti a bunch of kids and then had to spend decades obfuscating and ass covering because they fked up.
It happened more for reasons not even directly related to the Branch Davidians as the Feds thought they could create a positive story about themselves before things spun out of control and it ended up being ruby ridge 2.0
Anyone who joins a cult or group to escape “The One World Order” missed the first step, self-rule, i.e., think for yourself, dissent, DISOBEY.
That’s a thoughtful comment and you raise some valid points. I don’t want to be in echo chambers either. I also wouldn’t want to go in on land with a bunch of people I don’t know even if they claim to have a like mind to mine because people lie, cheat and take advantage of others and this exists everywhere not only in the government.
Trust takes a while and friendship involves a degree of acceptance of where people are rather than imposing one’s ideals of how they should be.
My idea of a good community is people who like to be self sufficient and won’t steal from you and would help you out if you had an emergency. Some of these people might be “statists” or even more “liberal” or have some other differing opinion to mine.
Having said that, I respect people who are trying to build community and put themselves out there, like Derrick Broze. I would just advise people to be careful and not blindly trust people even if they seem like freedom lovers.
I moved out of the city partly because I was sick of it, even if Covid never happened it became unhealthy. Too much stimulation, noise and traffic.
Great, a fine overview.
I sit in Sweden and try to get people to pay cash, eat healthy, eat nicotine + vitamin-C, stop using Wi-Fi and instead use SIP or POTS as telephone, etc..
But a very few listen, they just want to comply with SMART.
I’ve opted out of their “SMART” meter, and they have tried TWICE, to slither in and install it under my radar. “SMART” is STOOPID! I do not have “smart” ANYTHING. Why do people eat nicotine? All the best from Colorado.
Please, please 1000 times please, grant the world your fine exposure of the plight of the political prisoner Dr. Reiner Fuellmich. Your considerable audience might make the criminals responsible for his disgusting persecution…..at least… a little…..nervous. https://www.bitchute.com/video/rkZXkELXNouI
Lots of shit is going on in Europe as we speak.
I’m a Dutchie, the government recently collapsed due to the self created asylum crisis.
New elections end of October, then the formation process, so here we are again… about one year stuck with the sitting government “nobody can fire us now”!
Yes, that’s all possible now. They did this in the Covid era.
The previous Dutch overlord was Rutte, now Navo chief..
All kinds of laws were pushed through.
And now, again.
Like Spain, cash payments above €3000 are no more allowed.
“And from November 2026, thanks to EU rules, we will also be able to confiscate criminal assets without a conviction”, the minister said on X. There you go…without conviction.
Welcome to the Brave New World.
Oh, and by the way, TPTSNB announced the proposal “Defence Readiness Act”. Little Stamp Hollandia will be changed completely: low flying zones, farmers who need to go because their land is needed “to practice and keep us safe”. The Netherlands is gonna be Military Lands.
Fucking hell.
I’m so pissed off, especially because of the reactions of people and military staff on the proposals on Linked In and so…
I’ve put in some efforts with just posting pictures with quotes. From Goring (testimony about how easy it is to create war), Franklin Mandela. But wooh, inside, the anger feels like a volcano ready to explode. So yes, my man had to listen to me on our daily walk. Steam. Pfff.
It’s just getting really fucked up here, so it seems..
So I’m so so glad I saw this interview!!
It was just what I needed after a day like this with quite some Nazi regime stuff.
If I wouldn’t have children, I would possibly leave. But then, where to?
And then? Being blamed that “you foreigners cause our house pricing to increase so our children can’t buy anymore?” A topic in Spain? Hungary? Wondering how the kids are doing “at home”?
I guess we’ll stick around. We’ll see.
Fortunately, there is a community of like minded souls.
But still, I believe it’s best to be on your own and share when you can.
Sorry, too occupied with my own shit, yes, Reiner Fuellmich deserves our attention!
I stopped flying when the TSA moved in. I let my driver’s license and passport expire and currently have no photo form of ID. And even using a passport is agreeing to their “you must have a federal ID to fly domestically” bs. Why do you think they don’t care whether it’s a Real ID or a passport?
And granted I’m easily amused but “Eyes Is Watchin'” recently pointed out that Peter Thiel is an anagram of The Reptile.
>I stopped flying when the TSA moved in. I let my driver’s license and passport expire and currently have no photo form of ID.
Bravo!
It’s exasperating that so many people are willing to lick so much boot just to be able to travel. If we all (or a critical number of us) refused to subject ourselves to that kind of violation and humiliation, they would have to relax the rules. I went without any form of ID for a long time myself, eventually I broke down, but still working for the day I can let it go permanently. Along these lines, I also have refused to file taxes for most of my life (for over 35 years now), refuse to keep money in a bank account, and try to reduce the amount of demand for fiat currency that I personally generate. Currently I live on less than $1000/mo, working for the day it will be $0/mo, and keep all my savings in precious metals and bitcoin, hopefully one day I can earn and pay for my life completely outside of the fiat system.
I agree with Broze, how we can opt out of the technocratic state is “the only question that really matters right now”.
Boycott fiat. Boycott the government. Boycott corporations. Don’t vote. Quit paying taxes. Break stupid laws… OPENLY (when you can get away with it). Support freedom minded individuals, and parallel, off-grids systems. Move life as much as possible to the counter-economy and away from reliance on and support of fiat currency.
It’s challenging to do these things for sure, but well worth the effort in my opinion, if we want to have more freedom on this planet.
Oakgnarl
“…. Along these lines, I also have refused to file taxes for most of my life (for over 35 years now), refuse to keep money in a bank account, and try to reduce the amount of demand for fiat currency that I personally generat….”
That’s super hard core, not many people are brave enough to give the tax man the finger TBH. I honestly admire your guts in that.
One way to remain a bit more private (and avoid some taxes legally) that less brave people might want to look into is using Trusts to hold assets and property- Trusts are not just for creepy oligarchs anymore 🙂
lol even the Joker fears the IRS
http://www.factfiend.com/even-joker-wont-mess-irs/
Oakgnarl, there’s no like button, but I like your comment.
I’ve taken to giving the proverbial finger to each and every facial recognition camera that I pass. If there are no cameras and there’s no traffic I burn through a red light from time to time. On the other hand, I’ve taken Catherine Austin Fitts’ advice and therefore, if I don’t manage to trade for it, I make every single possible purchase I can using cash. I only use a card to withdraw cash.
I keep delaying watching the pyramid of power documentary series at my own peril.
or you’re better than most at not getting sucked in
Thank you for inviting Derrick back for another inspiring interview and for the reminder of the many past efforts you both have made to encourage us to prepare for (opt out of) the forced transition to Technocracy. Looking forward to having Derrick’s completed series to gift to the “normies” in my circle.
There are some of us who are way down the line of “Exit & Build”. Many thanks to Derrick & John (& yourself James)… because now there is a sea change of consciousness occurring.
My focus (and expertise) is on Tech… I was Mr Tech for decades… no more… what can we salvage from co-opted tech remains to be seen. Maybe we need to let it go for a while and then when the controlling forces have shifted… we can start to take it back,,,, BUT from a higher level of Consciousness…
The only way out it up 😉
For those versed in Tolkien….
One AI to rule them all…. one device to find them…. one Cloud to bring them all and in THEIR darkness bind them.
In your verse you can substitute AI with crypto.
Be ready for rural fires started to burn out homesteaders.
Be on watch for signs of illness from aerosolized toxins or other covert targeting methods/technologies.
You make good points but honestly unless you’re very important or doing federal crimes I doubt the Gov has time to worry much about you in the country side. They may soon have even less time to spend on folks outside of dense areas if the economy keeps going like it has been.
It’s a lot easier to poison you if you’re in a town on city water and buying food from a store. I don’t go full scare on 5G but I’m pretty sure being in a dense area makes microwaving you pretty easy too.
You would have to be pretty special for anyone to spend money getting flying monkeys spray you with toxins if your rural- and while cell phone coverage is better then it was it’s not very economically viable to EMF people in the countryside either. There is a reason they want people densely packed in, there is just too much space in America for them to control everything if people there don’t actively participate. I’d be more worried about malicious neglect of infrastructure in the boonies then of active measures
“not very economically viable to EMF people in the countryside either.”
I wonder if starlink can do that job? We live outside of cell tower reception, but many neighbors happily up & download 24/7 via starlink. my understanding is the danger comes more from specific frequencies and pulse rates than signal strength? wish I knew more.
Vadom
I can imagine you could do something bad with starlink type technology- but TBH i cant see that they could put a lot of power into a big area- it would be like trying to heat a cathedral wiyh a single candle. I guess they could aim a lot of them at one place and fry people?? But that would mean that they would have to pick targets.
It would still be much harder to do then putting up EMF weapons on every city block as far as I know.
I have noticed how much better cell coverage is then it was and once had a talk with the Chap who rode his four wheeler down the backwoods paths with a GPS in his backpack so they could be mapped…..so it’s not all totally cool I guess, even with normal tech
Continued
I believe you are correct that frequency probably matters more than power, I imagine they have done all kinds of unspeakable tests to find out the effects.
Like all weapons, though, they have a cost to use and I can’t imagine that it’s economical to fry the entire continent at the same time
I doubt starlink as it is now is a risk to anyone- you can talk to a space station with a hand held radio and the right antenna because it does not take a lot of power (as low as 5 watts I heard one time) and I doubt thise satiltes are producing a mass of electricity to beam to earth. If they had atomic reactors MAYBE they could
Was so awesome to meet Derrick at BTC Las Vegas! Hopefully one day I’ll get to meet James! They both do such amazing and necessary work. Thank you both
So good! Derrick is pretty cool. I love what he has to say, i was going to site some but to many cool statements in there to even start. Sometimes a few words say volumes! I enjoy your work James. And I really love the interviews with more candid talk. Conversation is the best way to nut it out. Brilliant, thanks guys.
I recently heard Iain Davis say he will not apply for another passport once it goes biometric. But this will effectively stop us travelling, more efficiently than 15-minute neighbourhoods. Surely there must be a better way to fight this.
I’d rather not travel than lick boot to be able to. I imagine if enough people demanded it, the rules would change. They can only get away with it because a majority accept and go along with it. So I’m not going to go along with it, or patronize an industry that is so hellbent on violating my personal freedom and autonomy, even if I’m the only one. If it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t, I’ll just live my life where I am at or better yet: travel illegally. I’d rather patronize an illegal human smuggling operation (and take the associated risks) than support the airlines and the TSA BS.
The planet was given to us at birth, as we were given to the planet. We’re all here to share in the abundance together and to proctor the land wisely. The tradition of kindness to weary travelers who are strangers to our land is a fantastic human trait. We should not live in fear of new arrivals, but look forward to the exchange of language, storytelling, entertainment, gardening tips, life strategies, hopes and dreams, etc. To travel is a human birthright.
Borders, control of our movements, numbering us like cattle, passports: these are the marks of the technocratic powers that should not be. Anyway, if we all stopped crossing borders I don’t think the rulers would even bat an eyebrow. If the airline industry failed in one day it would make no difference to them. 15-minute cities are the goal, ladies and germs.
To have a biometric passport is one thing. To use it is entirely something else. For me, opting out of the system means using the passport only when it is absolutely necessary. I would much rather have the chance to cross borders if there is an urgent need to do so. In the meantime, for a vacation we all pile into the family car and go for a nice drive.
On the other hand, after typing a dissenting opinion here in this forum, in a time of authoritarian lockdown will travel with my passport even be possible at all?
Sand
“… On the other hand, after typing a dissenting opinion here in this forum, in a time of authoritarian lockdown will travel with my passport even be possible at all…”
I suspect it will take a lot more then typing stuff online ti make us worthy of notice by those in power 🙂
The fact that the UK goes after a small number of those who type spicy words online is more a sign of their weakness then their strength. They can’t go after everyone, not yet anyway and probably not ever IMO
Amen
Thank you for another brilliant interview, and so many resources to fuel ideas for solutions. Even small steps help.
I am a very very financially challenged (poor!) stay at home mum and it would be easy to feel powerless, yet I somehow managed to express my interest in their project to a small community setting up a farm that is co owned by all members and supplies food to members completely away from the mainstream food system. All food is grown or raised regeneratively and each member owns land. I could not pay a lump sum but was compassionately accommodated for paying in small installments for the access. The model so far works where others have fallen down over running costs or egos – everyone involved is involved to the degree they can be, and all have equal access to all the food, nationwide, using a delivery service. Just over a year into dipping a toe into the project, my fridge is stocked with vegetables grown on “our” land, and meantime I have managed to nurture a juneberry bush into harvest, thanks to advice from Gavin Mounsey. I am just as poor as I was when I felt hopeless, and yes I am still far far from extracted from the system as I would wish – but I can see tangible things I have done that were not hard and that have made a material difference to our now and our future.
On another point, we rent. Housing costs here in the UK are horrific. We have a corporate landlord at this point (I’m sure it’s black rock when you follow the money trail), but we are trapped for now as we cannot afford to move. Meanwhile, I was told I had to download an app to communicate any needs to the landlord. I refused. It has been very hard to mount any sort of communication with real people representing said landlord, but I have insisted and so far we are nearly two years into the tenancy and neither myself nor my husband have the app. It’s a tiny thing, but a win none the less.
I don’t think people realize just how much of their personal information they give up when they download an app.
I don’t really want to move. Switzerland is our home, and I thank God (life itself!) every day for our home and the riches that it offers us, especially for the fruit and vegetables that we munch on, coming directly from our garden!
Now, on the other hand, I have the tendency to fall into doubt about the long term benefits of staying rooted in Switzerland. The level of social control is insane here; we are the blueprint of a structured society ruled by wealthy bankers. As Derrick said, (I’m paraphrasing…) it might be wise to recognize that there is less chance of freedom where you live and then move to a place that might potentially offer more chance of freedom in the long term.
Of course, my wife is a family doctor and her practice is here. We love our home and the community of friends that we’ve made through the school. We have clean water on tap, fresh air, a beautiful lake, and the Swiss Alps to admire. On the upside, many MANY people all around us are awake to the COVID-19 scam and to the world political movement towards technocracy (algocracy.) I don’t understand why I need to let fear be my guide, forcing me run away from this incredibly rich and beautiful land.
Here’s hoping that tomorrow we’ll feel as free and as good as we feel today.
Ultimately, those in power who will use technology to fully imprison us, physically and mentally, rely on proles to do their bidding. Just as a dictator relies on a loyal military to enforce his dictates, those who wish to remain in power forever must rely on the very people whom they would dominate to create the prisons which will disenfranchise them.
Therefore, opting out is not only the best solution, but indeed the only solution. Violence will only strengthen the hands of those in power, both physically and in the faint hearts of those whose fear overshadows their dignity. But opting out must be done at the very grass roots level.
Getting people to understand that, for instance, the way to end “illegal deportations” isn’t to heed the call of the puppet masters to destroy one another’s property. Instead, simply walking away from the government that is deploying this unpopular process will do the trick.
Let’s say that ALL of those who voted Blue want to end “illegal deportations”. They are half of the population. By inference, they would likely comprise at least half of the government employee base, including important departments like ICE, DHS, et cetera. What if they all just stopped showing up for work? Let’s assume that the enforcement arms lean more red, but someone has to do the paperwork. Someone has to process payroll. Someone has to refill the toilet paper in the locker rooms of the enforcers. My guess is that after a couple of missed paychecks, a lot of ICE and DHS employees would be facing morale issues at the very least.
THAT is “opting out”. That’s what needs to be done. The best way to fight the man? Stop working to support him. Violence won’t work. But literally doing nothing except sitting on your sofa, or maybe spending time with your family, or maybe talking a walk, will work.
>Exit and build and they will come and destroy it
Government doesn’t need an excuse to mess with you.
Might get arrested for posting this (you can never tell) but theres a tactic I’ve heard of in source below
>Building Our Own Communities
https://www.amren.com/podcasts/2025/02/building-our-own-communities/
Only posting as it was the first time I’d heard of “Private Membership Association”. If you look past the politics and listen to the journey its basically asking the same question. “How can I set up a community were I can be left the hell alone”. Not for me but sounds like an interesting legal loophole. Basically a P M A is the same loophole which will let you buy ray milk as a “subscriber” and sidestep something which is normally forbidden. He took the same principle and looks to be setting it up to make a commune resistant to subversion. Good if you’re looking to keep the Governments paws off
