Still, even the astute members of my audience might have been tempted to think of USrael as more of an analogy or a concept than a formal reality. I mean, it’s not like the fusion of the US and Israeli military apparatus is an actual, formal, bureaucratic agreement, is it?

As it turns out, there is now legislation passing through the US Congress that goes further than ever before in formally integrating the US military-industrial complex and its Israeli counterpart.

Very true, Mr Parvini couldn’t have said it better- elite theory is much more descriptive then any other idea I’ve come across.
Thus since “public opinion” does not matter a great deal the question might be how much does the ruling class need the public in order to maintain power for itself? Keeping control of the slobbering herd of Americans is not their real problem- being able to keep power vs China and Russia or even Iran USING that slobbering mass is going to get harder and harder. If 9/11 happened today who would show up for the military? Trying a draft would be the one thing that actually gets the mob to do some thing.
